[FONT=Times][SIZE=7][COLOR=green]okay people, I despearatly need help, I tried to save 2 of my best works and just as I saved the window closed, so I'm like 'okay, I saved, I can just open my pic again', and y'know what my computer did to me?! I tried to open and an alert comes up and it says 'bad riff data' after that I cried for 10 minutes because I worked for like 4 hours on that pic, all I needed to do was to color.. WHAT DO I DO!! PLEASE HELP ME!! I shant lose another picture to the dreaded 'riff' virus!! *gets on hands and knees* please if you have any information help me !!!

the best thing to do is to keep trying.

and if that doesnt work, maybe, try on a different computer.

and if that doesnt work, then, you should save ur file under a new format, such as Jiff, or Jpeg, or whatnot.

You need to backup more often.

Do a scandisk (disk check) that may recover it, or at least may prevent it from happening again.

A virus scan may be a good idea.

No need for a virus scan, if it's Painter you're using it's a known bug that occurs (though quite rarely). I've had it happen to me, but I've not managed to recover anything. Other people I know of have managed to recover half a file, the other half reduced to noise, but I think that's a result of the file being only semi-corrupted rather than any technical solution.

In short, bad luck. Save often with different filenames in future *nods*
