What I've read of Terry Brooks has been good, especially the Heritage of Shannara stuff, and Running with the Demon, although that is more modern fantasy. I think the best fantasy book I've ever read, though, has to be Sir Apropos of Nothing, by Peter David. It takes a certain type of humor to appreciate though. The sequels to that were also fantastic. |

I can think of three pretty good fantasies. "I Am Morgan Le Fay" and "I am Mordred" by Nancy Springer, and the Last Herald-Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. The Last Herald-Mage trilogy features a homosexual guy as the main character, so if that makes you squeamish, I'd suggest not reading it. |

If I had a choce a good fantasy for anyone under 15 I would say someting like Lord of the rings or something, but my favorite Fantasy that I think is for 15 year oldes and up will be my newish book The Fourth Guardian book one of the Eteranal Guardians Which I think is really good even though it is one of the newish books in wirting lol.
So if you are looking for a good fantasy I suggest this book it's really good and has a very good beging, but it's not really for children under 15 in my oppain.

"Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore is an awesome fantasy. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

First you could read Raymond feist.
His first riftwar sage is good
His empire trilogy with wurts is also good
what am i saying almost everything he's written is good.
Then you could read some vance.
His tales of the dying earth novels.are some of the finest fantasie novels ever written.Actually al his novels whether fantasy or sci fi are really good.
Possibly Tanith lee.I like her Tales from the flat earth series is excellent.
Also you might like her Birthgrave triology.
Then zelazny of course first books of the amber trilogy are good.
As is Lord of light although that's not really fantasy.
L.e modessit jr is also good.Read his recluce novels.
Chrisine freehan's.Dark books are also good.if somewhat mature and sexual. Not really fantasy but a good take on a different kind of vampire.
Michael moorcock's eternal champion series.Dancers at the end of time is also good.A mixture of sci/fi and fantasy
Of course ursala k.le guin's.Earthsea first three are the best quality drops afterwards.
I liked mickey zucker reichert's books.although perhaps they're more guy oriented.
You could try Julian may's new fantasy series.which is also good.
Silverberg's Majipoor is also good.
Janny wurts solo books are also all good.
Books by joel silverberg also good very mature though.people in those books have real serious issues to deal with.
Stephen lawhead's celtic fantasy is ok.
Louse's coopers Time master trilogy is also very good.
Gene wolf is new sun is also good.Mostly fantasy with some sci fi.
Definately read the Enchanted Forest Chronicals by Patricia C. Wrede. Those were really good.
I'd also suggest Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it is an awesome read.
those are the some of greatest books ever, you should read them! |

Read all of 'em, even before the LOTR movies came out. Tolkein is a good author.
If you want a really good fantasy, read the Shannara series by Terry brooks. He's an excelent fantasy author. |

For good fantasy, Tolkien, Narnia, and Eregon deserve another mention, for absolutely anyone of any age.
Pretty much anything written by Mercedes Lacky or Anne McCaffery is worth a look. Lacky does swords and sorcery type stuff, McCaffery's got dragons and Talents (people with psyhic powers), all good.
Fred Saberhagen's Lost Swords books. They're very good, classic fantasy about magic swords. Lots of them, too, so you'll be occupied for awhile.
Artemis Fowl. I know they shelve it with more childish books but it really is a good series.
Harry Potter. Had to be mentioned.
The Broken Sky series. Simple but a faceinating premise. More for younger readers, older people might like the ideas but will most likely be frustrated by the style of writing and they way you'll know things could have been expanded more. |

there's the shanarra series... that's a pretty good one.
then there's a book called "black sun rising"
"LOTR" (everyone knows that!)
personally, I really liked the book "the scions of shanarra". read it!
you can find some really goofy ones out there!
How come it seems Harry potter is the only series that people can name right off the top of their heads? I know it was alright, but it wasn't the absolute greatest.
read the shanara series- b.t.w.- i dunno if it's pronounced shanarra, shannarra, shannara, or shanara, so when or if you look for it, try it around. _________________ <MARQUEE>

Both the First and Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant are incredible (warning though - each is a trilogy!). It's not for younger kids though, but still incredible, even after a decade. |

Hero in the Shadows by David Gemmels, i think....Anyhow, that was a good book!!! There were cat people in it!!!!!!! Oh, and wolf people. _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)
