Short and sweet:

I'm making a website, just about done with it, but I need a place to host it.
There are tons out there that we all know like Geocities (>P), angelfire, tripod, blah blah blah

Does anyone know a really good place to host a website that's got a fairly cheap monthly fee?
Also, where I can buy the domain name. Most that I've searched around on (like rydia.net) have that option.
But since I'm new to this whole scene, I thought I should get some other opinions on it first.

So yeah, lots of space, domain name, fairly cheap (the best for less...), lots of space.

If you need anymore info, just ask

Cheepest domain name registration place is http://godaddy.com/

very cheep basic hosting is http://8-95.com (as cheep as 8.95 for half a year)

if you need somthing like a dedicated unmanged server I suggest http://sagonet.com (FAC's host) or http://www.ev1servers.net

Question:
what are the advantages/disadvantages to a dedicated unmanged server?

lol n.n;; I'm new to this whole thing.

and (one more thing whenever you get the chance) if I register my domain with godaddy but wanna use 8-95, how would that go about?
(don't have the money just yet, so I don't want to get too deep by buying without knowing)

When you get your web hosting account, your web host will give you 1 or more DNS servers (usually 2) which you make your domain point to in its setup.

as for dedicated.
Advantages: Much more disk space, and higher traffic limits. You get the whole server's processing power (which a huge popular site like FAC needs).
Disadvantages: Cost more. Cheepest dedicated i've ever seen is $65 a month. And you have to know how to manage it, or know sombody to manage it for you (Or get a managed one which is more expensive).

Unless you are running a huge website or hosting lots of other websites, you probebly dont need a dedicated one.

It's all pretty simple actually. don't go spending 65 a month though for something seeing as your just starting out. Make our small, then if you need be, expand as you can. I got mine registed at godaddy. lol.

it's realy easy. if you need somewhere to host Raymei, depending how much space your lookign for and all that. you could always ask me. My family owns our own server/s and we all ready host a few places. My website is hosted on the server.

www.genesiseve.com and it's even got a forum i'm working on. The work on the main site is halted right now due to my getting ready to go back to school. It's going to be totally revamped and changed later on. That was just my play time and testing of things Wink goodluck with your website.
