that would probably take a lot of work/space o.o

can't people just use PM or IM services?

Our forums already have an equivalent feature: PM or "Private Message". Send somebody a PM, and it pops up a window on their end the next time they log in.

Unfortunately the implementation of forum PM's is slightly broken....

Do keep in mind that if you drop a comment on their FAC profile page, it'll send them an e-mail response.

I'm dreaming when I say this, but it would be cool if we could integrate the forum PM function into the main site and not just the forums....

I've wanted to have PM/IM functionaliry in the site since I created it. But like many other complex features It's been low priority and hasn't gotten programmed yet.
