So on my computer in all it's glory my "site" works fine.
I went to 8-95.com and uploaded it but I'm having some problems @.@;;;

some pictures aren't working when the site is loaded. Others in the same file location, etc are just fine, but just random, for no reason (no typos, I checked) just come up as that stupid "x" block T.T;;;;;

Also, I went to go-daddy.com to get my domain name registered.
This is the first time doing any of this, so *please* don't laugh too hard.... what's a "nameserver"?
XP

I'm not using go-daddy's hosting, I'm using 8-95's, and it gave options of hosting it there, or entering your "nameserver".

I'm here on my hands and kness >.<;;; please help!

A name server is part of the DNS system.

When sombody types in your domain, their computer looks up its name servers from one of the root name servers (there are 13 of them). The name servers, contain all the information about computers under your domain. What computers its websites are on, what subdomains it has and what computers they are on, where to route mail for it, etc.

But, you proebly dont care about the technicial details. 8-95 should have given you 2 name servers to use when you registered.

My friend who has a site hosted these is using these name servers:
ns14a.8-95.com
ns14b.8-95.com

But you may need to be assigned other ones, it depends on how their system works.

If you are registering your domain before signing up at 8-95, just use those, you can change them later if you need.

And if you haven't registered it yet, use this link so I can get a cut (its their reseller program)
https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/rhp/def...&pl%5Fid=112541

-----------------

As for the broke pics, you are using front page or somthing to make it right? I bet those broken ones have URLs starting with file:// dont they? You'll have to remake those links to be relative like the others (basically chop off all but the filename, or maybe a folder and filename depending on how you have your site structured)

Ah, found them ^^
NS1 & NS2 Rolling eyes shoulda caught that one.
Thanks ^^

lol ^^ and yeah, I'll use that link when I buy them today (I have to buy 2 and then Jenni wants to buy one so there are 3 coming your way)

As for the images the links to them are the basic " src="images/loren.jpg"
Another image will have the exact link only "lexis.jpg" and it'll be broken. So....not sure on that one

Some other image possabilities are:
corrupt files -- make sure you are uploading them in binary mode.
make sure they are in an internet format (ie no bmp, tho I suspect you already know that. Just gif, jpg, png)

I can't really offer more specific help on that without seeing the site

Thanks for your help! ^^

Domain could take 1-3 days to get processed, but usually will start to work almost immediately

Suggestions and constructive critisicm:

background looks really bad at 1280x1024 and higher because it tiles. Make bigger or something.

Your iFrame comic needs heavy scrolling. This is annoying.

Gallary is well done tho.

Hm...wasn't really thinking of the 1280x1024 formats o.o didn't think they were too common but that's a good idea.
I'll have to mess around with that.

I noticed the problem with the update/comic in the iframe.
Originally had it as a pop-up like the gallery but when you clicked on the links.... couldn't find a way to have it link back into the iframe.
(but I think I can find ways to work around it ^^ )

thanks!

Denis, thank you SO much for edging me to go back and fix the comic-update thing!!! ^^

I went back to it, just (stupidly) typed in the whole "target=inlineframe" stuff and it goes back to the inlineframe on the main window!
Thank you so much!! it works SO much better now!! ^^

(still have to think about what I'm going to do about the larger screens though)

You should support up to 1600x1200.

ew....

We just went down to Comp USA (Jenni bought a lap-top) and their computers were hooked up to the net.

I found one that had a 1280x1024 view (and one that had a 1600x1200)
....ew...... lol

Hm... I'll have to mess around, see what's the best way to handle that.

:P I'm always a couple steps behind technology's progress lol

true ^^
I'll see what I can do about it later (maybe add a little border of some sort for the wider screens or something.
Anything to keep it from tiling T.T;;; looks so bad when backgrounds tile like that
