It's one of the best. One of the first i ever saw of any anime and got me into it to say the least. And well, the new series they have out. I like that too, quite good. (Stand alone complex) And right now, i got every bit of it on my netflix back order list.

This was one of the best anime movies I have seen yet! I haven't seen the series damnit, and I want to, but I live out in the woods, where people think manga and anime is some kind of gram cracker or drug that they haven't yet experimented with. <_<

I can never watch GITS when i see it on. The storyline doesn't keep me interested. Mainly I listen to the opening theme, then change the channel.
I like the music and the animation. |

I just saw that movie yesterday. The art was sooo beautiful! The story was complex (how I like it). I was just really really sad that Motoko wasnt in the whole movie with her original form. I mean, I know it got all mangled...but they could have built her a new super form! lol. Maybe arm blades!? hehe. I just thought she was such a cool character, I missed her. *sniff* Maybe the next one ^_^ |

I just saw the first one where the puppet master gets into the body and motoko goes in to see if the ghost is there herself. And then they in the end, join together. Her body is completely tore up so (brain fart ... what's his name?) gets her a new one off the black market, a childs body. The next one i'll have seen by this weekend or monday. |

Okay, so i just watched the second movie. Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence as well as the first 4 episodes of the series, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex on DVD from netflix this week.
I can officially, safely, and proudly say that it my favorite. The movie is number one in my personal opinion. With the second being the best. I liked how they got more into Batou and showed more about him. How he's been since the Major's leaving. And how he loves her and still cares about her. As you can see when she shows up to help him, and pretty much for the most part, it's safe to say, saves him on the Locus Solus ship from the other andriods that have cause the investigation in the first place.
It's great. I love it. The sound is awesome, the music is right on and beaitiful. And the animation and extreme amount of detail is the utmost best and has found a nice, cozy little place in my heart.
I so need a box set, it's not even funny |

Okay, everytime, everytime there's a deep, indepth, strange, difficult or confusing movie or series ro what not, i always, always seem to follow it perfectly and get it fine. it's weird.
The whole thing was the same for EVA. So many people have trouble following that, and if they follow it, they just don't get it, which tends to piss me off but...But i've heard people say Ghost In The Shell was hard or what not as well. All of that stuff, but it just isn't to me.
Hmm, i wonder? *shrugs*
I seriously need that movie on DVD Anyone? Charity? |

The original movie (1995 IIRC) was okay, but never liked the way it strayed a little far off of the manga, story wise, and especially artwise.
They westernized the looks too much, which was a real b*tch being a Shirow fan. The story was okay.
As for GITS: Innocence, Mamoru Oshii is waaaaaaay too in-love with his dog. YES! It was his dog that appeared on the entire movie. <_<
Innocence, in spite of my being a GITS fan, was too much philosophical babble that it was BORING! It's like watching Matrix Reload and Revo. Boo~Hiss~
So far, only GITS: Stand Alone Complex, and GITS: SAC 2nd Gig give me my Shirow fix.
BTW, OT but if you like Shirow, go watch APPLESEED!!! |

Here's a nice synopsis of the entire Ghost In The Shell story.
Ghost in the Shell is the master work of the master story teller, Masamune Shirow. In the year 2029, the boundaries between virtual reality and the real world are fading. Artificial Intelligences (AI's) are getting more sophisticated. Most people have interfaces implanted into their brains, making it easy for them to interact with computers, or learn from them. But it leaves them open to be manipulated as well. The essence, or soul of a person, is known as that person's "ghost", in this work of Shirow's. Hackers able to hack into a person's ghost are the most skilled, and liable for the severest penalties if caught.
About 95% of the characters in Ghost In The Shell, are cyborgs, so it's not just the lead female character. If there is some nudity, violence and gore in it, it's because GITS is targeted towards mature audiences, not really for kids.

Well, i got up to the 3rd DVD disc for the series. The 4th should be on the way. I think i need to go add the others. But for some reason i keep thinking there's only 4 DVD's. But that can't be right. There's the normal 26 episodes for the series and there's only 4 eps a DVD.
Eitehr way, can't wait for the next one!
I love the major, and Batou. They're my favs. Of course But yeah. My mind is sort of crazy tonight so i won't go into discussing it to deep tonight. Not even sure if anyone insterested is still around. |

Are you kidding me? I was just waiting for someone to respark this already lit candelabra.
I love the way the Laughing Man story is developing. The television series is like watching a 28 minute anime movie. And it is good. Now you go! |

eh, i've seen more episodes than those they've gotten to on adult swim so fair. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. There's this one episode i want to talk about but i can't until this next weekend. Dammit <_< Now i'm frustrated.
The major kind of reminds me of one of my original characters. Maybe that's another reason i like her so much. They certainly can be different alright but they do have some similarities that stick out to me. I noticed that from the first episode, kind of weird really. |

Hey, tell me what you want to say. I think it's safe to post it, not many people have posted here for a while. Just say spoilers or something. I've read in-depth synopsis of every episode, including the ones CN haven't shown yet. I'm just mesmorized by the series. It's something about the opening song (i've been looking 4 it all over the internet, along with the end song on Ruroni Tenshin) that sets the mood for me. It's just so serious and the plots are so detailed. They really don't make em' like that anymore....or maybe they do.
And another thing, wasn't there a recent theater release of one of the movies...or am I thinking about Appleseed? |

Rurouni Kenshin.
And yeah, the second GitS movie, Innocence, was in theatres September 2004. I haven't heard about any other movies, so you might be thinking of Appleseed.
I think at one point, I tried watching the first movie, but I couldn't finish it. Too tired, my brain couldn't function for that sort of thing at that time. Maybe I'll rewatch it someday. A friend blew $117 on a couple artbooks the last time I went out with him, so I'm willing to watch it if he thinks so highly of it. :x I just don't have the time...
I remember my favourite part, of what I've seen, was the soundtrack. Absolutely superb.
