Because this [i]is[/i] a public forum, your opinion on whether your phrasing is convoluted or not does not matter. What [i]does[/i] matter is whether the people who are going to be reading your posts think it's convoluted or not, as they're the ones who will be replying to you. Not everyone here has a high school + vocabulary. Therefore, it is better etiquette to think of the people who are your "audience" and post in such a way as it is easier for them to understand.

1337 speech? That's the only one I remember seeing on these boards (as these boards are actually pretty small and contained) and the 1337 was usually because of OS. And they weren't doing it because it was "cool" or they liked it, they were doing it for an effect.

Pretentious (definition)? Well, actually, I was quoting a dictionary, so I meant the quote in a general way (perhaps not specifically 'pretentious'), but since you really want to have an example...

Again, I have to say that because this is a public place, others' opinion of a person's conduct is far more important than what that individual own opinion of themselves. Public forums are a place for people to interact, so my advice to you is to think about how the other people on the forum may react to your posts, and adjust them accordingly.

PS. Your sudden reference to such words as "ass" and "damn" give me the impression that you weren't too happy with what I said, and so responded in an angry and rude way. I don't know why, I was trying to be civil while pointing out mere facts. I request that if you respond, please do so in a slightly less insulting manner - I believe that you're intelligent enough to reply without use of such words.

All right, then, long story short: I quoted from a dictionary. I didn't mean anything with the word 'pretentious', I just left it in the quote because I didn't feel the need to edit it out (read: too lazy to edit), and I apoligise if you felt that it was insulting.

Now to get back on topic. (xD for people who can't understand emotions is a face of a person laughing really hard with his eyes shut.)

BTW New dude, you should go check out the contest forums, Strata (i think) has one going on and so does DG-sama (a really cool persona) and Will has one. You can boost a lot of your self by being in a contest or making on yourself. Most of the time it is pretty funny to do contests.


OH and when you go onto the main site make sure to check out a few of the artists and pictures that pop up on the very first page, a lot of them are really good.

As for some other tips. Try to stay open minded to a lot of things around in Fanart. Myself as you can see curse more than the average person on a really bad day. (I think I have this diease where you can't stop from cursing but it's unknown yet. ;P )
