Posting Comics/doujin/manga

I am planning on improving the comics/doujin/manga system on FAC and am looking for input on how it is implemented.

Should comments be applied to a comic, or to individual pages? To the comic would have the advantage of being centralized, but also have the potential of spoilers. Also the fact that most comics will be posted gradually over time should be taken into consideration.

Should anonymous comments be allowed?

How should this work with the approval panel?

I am planning a new rating system (that may eventually apply to pics and stories too). What do you think of it? It is based off the PICS rating system.

rating_language (none/negligible, mild, moderate, obscene, explicit)
rating_nudity_male (none, revealing, partial, frontal, provocative)
rating_nudity_female (none, revealing, partial, frontal, provocative)
rating_sex (none, passionate kissing, clothed sexual touching, non-explicit sexual touching, explicit sexual activity)
rating_violence (none, fighting, killing, killing with blood and gore, Wanton and gratuitous violence)
rating_spoiler (none, minor, major)
rating_yaoi (yes/no)
rating_yuri (yes/no)

I also plan to have some way to convert existing sets of pictures into comics for those that are already posted.

Hm...I think this is definitely a good idea (seeing as how a LOT of the members are posting their original comics or doujinshi here now )

I think the comments should apply to the pages.
I read a lot of online comics that have tagboards on a seperate frame and people tend to comment on a certain panel or image on the current page they're on a lot.


As far as the approval stuff goes, I think as long as the first page qualifies under the rules then the rest should be allowed (there's only so many rules a comic can break...I think :huh: )
But that's gonna take some SERIOUS discussion among you guys (see how you want to handle it)

might want to have some note about the "yaoi/yuri" stuff (lots of the member seem to think it just simply means "gay")

About the doujinshi, perhaps an option for viewing all comments, plus the option for comments on a specific page/chapter, would work best.

For example, making up a few URL's....

Show all comments for a certain chapter in a story:
/comments.php?sid=####&chapter=##

Show all comments on a story (with a spoiler warning?) :
/comments.php?sid=#####

As for the ratings, some more specific content advisories (like the ones you listed) would be grand, but could you keep the G ~ NC-17 rating scale alongside it?

Another idea, for categories like nudity and sexual content perhaps the options can be described on a "G thru NC-17" scale?

Comments should be applied to both...
Personally I wouldnt like the idea of a anonymus commenter... because of the flames and such.
The new rating system is cool but you should keep the G/NC-17 scale too, like strata said.
