Actually, .hack//tasogare no udewa densetsu isn't a spinoff of [b]anything[/b]. What had happened was that four years after the events in the games, Kite had long since stopped playing "The World", and it is presumable that his character was finally deleted.

What happened after that was that a mysterious Gift Campaign (kinda like a contest) was started. A young girl (Rena) who was separated from her twin brother (Shuugo) (because their parents divorced) entered herself, as well as her brother, into the contest because she wanted a chance to meet her brother again through playing "The World".

Luckily, she won the campaign and her prize was two character models: The Legendary Hackers, Kite and BlackRose. These were rare because after the events with the viruses and Aura, these character models were banned - no one was allowed to have a character who looked like them.

So, she kept the BlackRose model for herself, and gave Shuugo the Kite model, and the two started playing "The World" so they could be with each other again.

After that, they meet up with a mysterious AI called "Zephy" who looks a lot like Aura...

So, don't think of it as a spinoff, 'cause it's not. If the game were an anime or tv show, it'd be more like a "season" of that show, not a game itself. .hack//udeden is just the next season after the games.

I love .Hack All of it! Its just great...but I'm jsut too lazy right now to post alot about it...X3
