Are you on dial-up at home? Dial-up rarely tops 5 kb/sec (56k = 7 kb/sec), whereas schools are connected to the Internet via ultra-fast DSL or a T1.

Strata's right: most schools have extremely fast internet connections. It's needed, after all, considering how many stations are on the network.

all computers speed uploads are crap well atleast all the ones in my house are <_<

Well, it must be your internet connection, then. Most connections have different ul speeds than dl. It's because it costs the isp more to move large volumes of data around (uploading). Surprised
