My computer is officially starting to die. It's old and weak and the internet is slow even though I have cable. Now, I've never really had problems with it other than that damn "Messenger Service" thing that seems to have hit almost everybody, but I got rid of that.

But now, it's not even letting me download things, or do anything that has to do with media. At first, the downloading would just stop mid-way and ot work anymore (no error messages, it would just decide to stop). But now, every time I even click a LINK to try and download, or even try to open up my Windows Media Player, I get this little popup message that looks very spyware-y (image attached).

Can someone help me get rid of it, and help me start downloading again? And I swear to God, if I hear the words "Mac" or "Firefox".... alsdjlaksdjladkjadllak. NO. I dislike Macs, and I very obviously am INCAPABLE OF DOWNLOADING FIREFOX. If I can't download the latest version of Media player, I obviously can't DL Firefox. . . . . I'm sick of that suggestion, dammit.

Do you have something like Ad-Aware installed? That looks a lot like adware, so if you don't, you could always try to go to another computer at a friend's house or something, download the installer for an ad/spyware removal program, put it on a floppy and take it home and install it and run it.

If you can't do that, I suggest backing up everything you want to keep and have your computer reformatted. (This is a bit radical, though...)

Because I'm not very good with computers, that's all I can really think of, sorry.

I had the exact same problem as you, except whenever I tried to do anything, Windows explorer would crash..The only option I could recommend would be to shell out 200$ for an external, back up all of your media and run a system recovery.

at least, thats what I ended up doing. :\ It worked out pretty well for me.
