...By some weird twist of fate, you later find yourself playing the particular game series again!

Know any? I have two of them.

The first one is the Final Fantasy series. I had played Final Fantasy (the ORIGINAL] on the NES at my friend's house. Some saved game on it had a Fighter named "ASS", a white and red mage, and a blackbelt, so after playing it for awhile, when we decided to start anew from the beginning, we kept a Fighter in the team and named him -- just within FF's four-letter limit -- "Mr.A" as a small tribute. Though... after the class change, he sorta resembled Mr. Arnold Governator

I also played Final Fantasy "3" -- that is, the US "FF3", not the Japanese one. It was a friend's game, I believe. Loved that music.

But something happened when FF7 came around... I played a demo for the PC version... my graphics card didn't cut it, and all the pretty scenery graphics? Garbage. Complete and utter garbage. The character models (chunky as they were) were rendered and textured fine, but the scenery... garh.

That's when the "magic" faded. FF7 claimed as being some big 3D wonder... but fact was, the only real 3D (as in, real-time rendered) in the game were the battle scenes. The basic environments were a combination of pre-rendered stills and FMV elements, which (even at the time) I'd seen done before in other games, such as Sierra's Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire (which applied a panoramic effect, kinda like Myst 3: Exile, making even the flat scenery feel '3D').

And so I paid no attention to FF7, nor FF8, nor...

...FF9? After acquiring a PSX, I gave it a rental. Played through the entire first disc, and parts of the second. But the 'magic' still wasn't there.

And so, in a review I submitted to epinions.com, I declared that I'd never return to the FF series again.

But somehow...

I now have FFX and FFX-2 as experience under my RPG belt. FF5, FF2 also, and a taste of FF8 and FF Tactics.

How did that happen?

...I'll have to blame my sister. She gave FFX several rentals before purchasing it, so I saw quite a bit of it. I wasn't intrigued by the new-for-FF benchmark in graphics, but the battle system seemed interesting, and I think that's how it all happened.

Never play another Final Fantasy? Doesn't look much like it anymore. Even so, I have no plans of FFXI, and my interest in FF12 will probably lie only in the new battle system they've been showing.

I, personaly, adored FFVII.

Loved the battle system, the characters, and absolutly loved the music.

Sis heard good recommendations of it, so I got her one for Christmas last year.

And talk about a steep initial learning curve... I read the manual and explained the actions to her... took a lot of that, and even more patience, before she got used to the combat system and started to enjoy it.

I haven't played the second one. How's the storyline?

Also, I still think the ending of the first game is hilarious. Shoot me for being such an asshat, sure. Maybe I'll play it again because it was so easy. That, and I don't have a lot of action games and I ocassionally want to play them. :/

The second one follows the storyline of the anime, so most people know most of the storyline already. I won't spoil anything else. I had such high expectations for the game though, maybe that's why I'm so dissapointed.
