How Far Is Too Far?

I read FAC's policys and stuff because I wanted to report an artist. She exactly copied the art of another artist down to the very last strand of hair, but she replaced the image with another character. She did this in two pictures I can prove, from what I understand, FAC's rules say that's alright.

'* Just strait copying something existing is pointless. Basing off an existing picture is fine, copying a pose or whatever, but you really should make changes to make the picture your own'

But does that mean tracing and replacing the character is acceptable?

I'd rather not post the pictures here, but if someone asks to see what I mean I could post and then remove it sometime later.

I'd suggest posting both the original and traced images in the Artist Abuse forum and let the mods call the shot.

What do you mean by tracing the character "down to the very last strand of hair" and yet "replacing the character"? WTF?

Yea, that seems like the most reasonable thing to do. Thanks ^^

I mean she copied the picture, everything was the same including every strand of hair, but she changed the colors around and made it her own.

So it's basically just a recolor? Then I'm 95% certain it's against FAC's rules.

Basic edits/recolors/manips, whether of official art or sprites, or the work of another artist, are not allowed. Refer to the Submission Content FAQ thread for more details.
