I draw huge hulking muscular men and people still say they look like girls because of the long hair ;_;

For me, it depends on what time period they live in. Old, middle-age kinda times, they'd have a set outfit that fits that period because they couldn't afford different clothes. It would only change if their clothes got ripped up badly and they needed new clothes.

The clothes I choose also need to serve a purpose. I wouldn't let the girls wear high-heels if they had to wander a lot. I'd give them boots. So, utilitarian over beauty.

...but very detailed clothing is fun to draw!

I usually draw my characters in a kimono and hakama pants.In some cases I design a costume.I will add little acessories,to make it more original.
