 I think this should be in "Books" but I'll post anyway.

To be frank and to the point: I hate Harry Potter.

However; the first one was great. It created a society away from the one that we live in and made it seem slightly realistic. You had a villian, a good guy with some baggage, and a nice feel. It was Cinderella for guys.

After that, though, it became crap. The plot it dull, unoriginal and boring. Rowling refuses to change to a different angle, different point. Her characters are static, they rarely transform into something else. Hermione: Too smart. Doesn't accept the fact that she might be wrong. Ron: A wannabe. He is obsessive, immature, and can't accept reality. Harry: Deep down he loves his fame. He's self absorbed and does things against the rules. Sure, they eventually save the day, but in the meantime you deal with a character that has issues with authority.

Well. There's my take. Though, remember to post something like this in Books, next time. Wink

Thats a harsh opinion Megan. Rowling has thought through the plot, and she knows whats going to happen.

And the characters are a bit deeper than that, and I can't actually see them, atleast Harry, winning in the end. And as for the authoruity of the rules, well, where can any book go if someone doesn't eventually do something wrong, becuase otherwise, most books would be as boring as picture books.

I can't say its my favourite book, by far its not, I actually only read the first book because my friend made me, and hes the biggest Potter geek around. However, it does remain on my shelf, occasionally opened for referecne to RPs and fanfictions. All in all, Harry Potter is a good book, and I will enjoy reading the final book.

Granted, the first one is good, but I think afterwards the plot is generally the same:

Baddy-waddy He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is trying to kill poor likkle Harry Potter. That's been the underlining theme in every one, and, after a while, that gets old. Beyond the first, the only on that relatively held my attention was the third one, because it actually changed angles...somewhat.

Actually, I have to argee with Megan on this one. Harry Potter is a great movie and all, the characters, at least the students, are pretty static, and the whole thing is predictable....still a good read though. It's like reading a well-written version of Sailor Moon...may the cheesy, yet addictive anime rest in peace.

However, people like Snape and Lucius are awesome! Hee, Lucius!

Yes, i'll agree with the fact that the first two books were pretty much the same. But after that-in the case of book three- as Megan said, completely different angle.

But number four, is a different angle. He isn't out to get Harry, more, use him. Slightly different angle. Book five,Completely different. Voldermort isn't out to get Harry, just the prophecy.

And book six...Well, I'm not really to sure what ol' Voldy' was up to there.

^Neither am I Matt.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it. The fact that the series is ending is what hooked me. I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!

If I don't finish a book series, I get all twitchy.

Hmm...well I guess it really depends on the ship. I mean, the last book was so full of shipping I swear there was a new one every chapter Laughing Or at least it felt like it. Remus and Tonks? I do like that ship, but never EVER in a million years would I have thought Rowling would make it canon. Wonder if she's been dropping into ff.net a little more than she ought... Rolling eyes Heh...next thing you know Hermione and Snape will become canon, which would likely result in the following reactions.

Rowling: ^_^ ...... Razz

World: ..... ...... WTF? . Surprised ..... Very Happy .... Laughing .... Rolling eyes

But as regards which ones I like....hmm...I think up there in the top would be Remus/Tonks, Snape/Hermione (I like it...obviously with Hermione being older, but again, I don't ever expect it to become canon lol!), Lucius/Narcissa (who says ships can't be already married couples?), Quirrell/OC (always find them interesting...like if he had a wife/lover etc pre-Book 1), McGonagall/Dumbledore (c'mon....it's sweet!)...that's all I can think of for now.

I really dislike the whole idea of shipping to much. They're obviously not going to happen, and generally the stories, although well written, are just foolish.

Does anyone else share my views

Still gotta love Lucius! I mean, my girlfriend worships Jason Isaacs anyway, but he is just so cool!

I found this little conversation on line, it was hilarious.

Judge: So, Mr. Malfoy. This court finds you guilty of being a Death Eater. Do you have anything to say on your behalf?

Lucius: Um...I'm..pretty?

???: He's so pretty!

Judge: Sit down, Mrs. Malfoy!

Mrs. Malfoy: But he's so pretyy!
