How long have we had these annoying little buggers, and WHY must they exist? Dx _________________ FAC |

Not very long. Advertising means more money to fund the FAC server with.
However, it's causing my Firefox to lag somewhat as the pages load (though it's ONLY as the page is loading, once finished it runs fine) .... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yeah, those are a serious pain. Double underlined?? Whatwhat??
I think I prefer just the ads on the page, not lined into everything written. >>; |

Oh good, someone already started a topic about this.
I hate those ads with a burning passion... Are we going to have to put up with these forever? Or can the webmaster afford to remove them in the future sometime?
Sorry for complaining, but they're just plain and simply irritating in every way imaginable! Argh... please tell me these flippin things aren't permanent... _________________ "The thing you fear most has no power. Your fear of it is what has the power. Facing the truth will set you free"

Paticularily this time of year, the graphical advertisers dont have enough ads to make fac enough money.
And the google ads are click based and dont get enough clicks.
So, more ads are needed to cover the costs.
If this and the other stuff I"m looking into don't cut it, I'll have to move on to interstecials, dhtml overlays, or even popups. |

When viewing a category gallery, they have a tendency to sometimes make a picture's title show up as an adlink.
And we don't really need them much on the Site Helper CP pages, do we? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

They are just everywhere like any other ad.
The the next 2 weeks their system will be experimenting with different placements and stuff and generally optmizing itself.
If, after that time, there are still ads in problematic places I can use some special div tags to better control where they appear. |

I have been seeing complaints about speed and reported it to the provider. They are not able to find any speed issues.
Anyone who finds this kind of problems please give as much details as you can. Stuff like your web browser (name and version), operating system, your computer specs (cpu & ram) as much details as you can provide will help with the speed problems. |

Well, I do seem to have the slowest computer of anybody around here... (400MHz).
The lag isn't that bad on the average picture page, but when it sorts through large pages such as the category CP, that's a different matter. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I was told by my ad rep that longer pages will take longer to process, but the differance should be miliseconds. |
