Truth be told, I don't read many comic books, but from what I have read, they're really awesome. I love the lines and the coloring and the story line.
So which ones have you read and which ones do you like the best?
I really like the new "Ultimate Spiderman" series. I've read the first and the 14th, I believe. Yeah, a big jump. The artist/author is hilarious and the way he draws is fun to look at.
Another comic I started reading is "Lullaby", although it might fall into the anime category by the way its drawn, but because the entire comic is colored and produced in English, I consider it a comic. I love Hector Sevilla (artist)'s drawings. If you wanna see what I'm talking about, go here: http://elsevilla.deviantart.com/gallery
My favorite-st and funniest comic is "Liberty Meadows" by Frank Cho. It is set up like the funnies in a newspaper, 4 or more horizontal panels. Go! See! I love Cybersix. I haven't gotten too far into it because I need to brush up on my French, but I'm finding it absolutely awesome. 8D Awesome storyline, <333 |

I wouldn't call it an anime. It just had Japanese animators, that's all.
And it's on Teletoon? Are you serious? ;A; They haven't aired it in so long!
Anyway, it's about (I think, my memory isn't the greatest thing around) a Cyber who escaped from the labs of a Nazi scientist, Dr. Von Reichter, who managed to come out of the war pretty much unscathed, and he still performs immoral experiments and stuff... Uhm, he created a series of genetically altered humans... or androids (;A;') he called Cybers. They eventually grew their own consciences and disobeyed him, so he destroyed them all. Except for Cybersix, who escaped (at a very young age) and is now living in the city of Meridianna.
Since she was on the run from Von Reichter, she made a new identity (there was a car acciddent and one of the people killed was a young boy, so she took his role), Adrian Seidelman, and she now teaches as a male professor in some school. One day, Von Reichter's son (who is a clone of him, I believe) discovered that she's still alive and now they're trying to kill her all over again, except they're also doing a lot of, uhm, bad stuff in the city. Cybersix decides to stop them, superhero stuff, etc. while maintaining her guise of a simple teacher. She eventually falls in love with a man named Lucas (he's a teacher in the tv show, I think he's a detective in the comic) and their relationship gets a bit complicated because she's his friend when she's crossdressing. 8V
And that's about it. 8V Sorry that was a bit convoluted and confusing. :\ I can't remember all the finer details. |

The only comic books I've really read were "A History of Violence", "Road to Perdition", and "V for Vendetta." Call me a bad person. I am. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

PAAULINE!
Yeah, they were made into movies. Whether or not they were good is debateable.
"Road to Perdition" was beautiful--my only complaint throughout all these books is that there seemed to be a lot of uneeded violence. Naturally, it's a comic book so what am I expecting, but sometimes there were scenes/situations where Sullivan didn't really HAVE to kill the guys he did. Otherwise: It was great. The art was incredible, and the narroration was on the dot.
"History of Violence" was awesome as well. As to critiquing, read the above.
I really, honest-to-goodness, did NOT like "V for Vendetta". I thought it was very long winded and the plot just didn't appeal to me in it's original form. The movie definetely did a better job pulling off the plot than the book, which dragged on for a considerable while. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

I have always loved comics, but hardly ever got much chance to read them (other than things like Garfield).
But I really want to get my hands on Cybersix comics. I haven't seen a single one yet, other than online. It was bad enough that they stopped airing the show, but the fact that none of the comics are to be found anywhere...? T_T
Though, the drawing style is...creative, to say the least.
I might actually go out looking for the comics, and a French-English dictionary for some of the sentences I can't make out. Otherwise, it would give me a much needed French brush-up _________________ |

Yeah. There isn't any mention of C6 on eBay, either... D;
Another comic series I absolutely love is Neil Gaiman's Sandman. <3 That man is a genius, and there's a plethora of different distinct art styles in those books. :V |

Neil Gaiman has one of the most interesting and vibrant styles I have seen in the "contempary" era of art. His stuff is just...Wow. I love it. That might've been one of the reasons I feel in love with "Mirror Mask", considering that almost all the animation was his.
My teacher (history or something) said "V for Vendetta" would be a good watch to do extra credit on in our class since it was something about corrupt government as if London were taken over in WW1 or 2 (err, right? Memory kinda sucks at the moment. Actually, it usually sucks all the time).
I think all teenagers suffer from some type of Alzheimers.
V for Vendetta was about a government that used the media and fear to push people towards their party, towards their way of life and ultimately towards their imprisonment. The party--Norse Fire--creates the idea that the major, life-dystorying flood that swept through London was the work of terrorists--specifically gay, lesbian and Islam terrorists. Or something around those lines. I always forget...
Nevertheless, it DOES have a good idea, but the movie is more in line with what would probably happen in today's society. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

Has anyone been keeping up with the Civil War comic event of the summer? I'm currently casing the Borders for those issues. Spiderman revealed his identity! Wolverine can regenerate organs! Cyclops is knocking boots with Emma Frost! Captain America is a trader to the country that made him who he is! The Hulk is a homosexual!
OMG, there's just SO much happening, that it turns my brains into mash potatoes! |

Yes, I am the Tom of Myspace fame, lol. And yes, The Civil War is an actual comic event going on. Anyone that is truely an avid comic reader knows of this; it's the latest chapter that threatens to jar the very foundations of the Marvel Universe. Uncle Ben ain't dead; in fact, he never died....Captain Marvel, my nose doth smells.
And I must apologize for the Hulk comment. That was an error. The Hulk is actually in the nether regions of space battling aliens Roman-Greco style; i'm talkin' Sparticus, baby!
It is actually Hulkling who is the gay, with his boyfriend apty named "Asgardian". You kno, the "New Avengers".....it's like Marvel's answer to the Teen Titans. blah, I say.
Check my blog on Myspace; I have a link to the Civil War page on Myspace. Or just search for it |

My favourite comic series was Ghostrider. I don't even know if they make these anymore.
I used to watch Cybersix on teletoon, but I don't think they made too many episodes. It was always kind of confusing because he would be a boy during the day and then turn into a woman superhero. I never watched a full episode, I would just flip through it. |
Hmm...Hulkling? Never heard of it. But, wow. Uncle Ben as Captain Marvel?! Insane!
Well, I'm not an "avid comic reader". I only know a few. The first comic book I picked up at Borders was a "Batman" one and I opened it up and read a few pages, but then it did a close-up on the Joker, with all his wrinkles and details and crazy smile and it kinda scared me.
BTW, I went to your Myspace, but I didn't see anything about "The Civil Wars" comic book. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough...
Sorry Pab the Rab, I lied. Just whoring myself out for the Fox Corporation to increase traffice to my already established site for friends
But there are groups dedicated to this ongoing Marvel trial. If I were you, I'd log in right now and search in the Groups section and join one today!
Comics are an endless guilty pleasure of mine |

Well, i'm sorry to hear that Pauline. You, unfortunately, are doing yourself quite a disservice, neglecting your myspace page and groups. I work hard to find special concert events in your area (as well as the many other members' areas), and adding important bullitens whenever a contest arises. You can even win free tickets to see movies, on those movies' respective pages.
Yeah, I remember the sonic comics; back in their hay-days in the 90s', the Sonic comics were very plot-driven and....good. But with the advent of the next-gen video games, starting on the Dreamcast, the franchise hast since declined.....they decided to take aspects from the video games and incorporate them into the story, as oppose to sticking with the original Sonic mythos.
*sigh*, what can you do?
p.s: get on your myspace, make countless friends, and post in your various groups and the forum! plz |
