				| Why don't you guys get phpbb3? It's really good! If you've been to lunaescence forums, you know what I'm talking about _________________

				| phpBB3 is yet only a BETA version, therefore not fully bugfree. Therefore we cannot right now switch to that software as we could not gurantee that everything will be working correctly afterwards. Also some coming FAC features will rely on the phpBB2 code and therefore we would need to test if theyre phpbb3 compatible, too.
So - as far as i can tell - i would say: You should not bet that we will switch the boardsoftware to phpbb3 soon ;0)

 *edit*
 See the official phpBB3 page:

[quote][b]Can I use this beta as my live forum?[/n]
No. We do not recommend using beta software in a production environment.[/quote]

				| i've been on another phpBB3 forum and looked through it.. the improvements (those i saw at the side, i will have a look at the code tonight i think) arent worth messing arround with a BETA version. The things catching the viewers attention the most arent much more then a phpBB2 with some hacks installed. The only interestering thing is the 'luna like' looking theme, which should be portable if needed without many problems.
Still we would have to check first if its compatible. Then we would have to set up a testsystem with it. then we would have to see if its working with about 55 thousand users (!!) - not only with about 67, like lunaescence does.
Then, if everything would be ok, and the phpBB3 would reach stable we could think of portin the forum. But before this all is ensured we cannot do that.

				| When I saw this thread I thought "Good, its finally been released"...Guess not .

Upgrading to phpBB3 will be a hard project, but one that will be done sometime after it is released -- and not before.

There are a lot of new features and improvments in it I'd love to make use of once its production quality. In paticular attachments, custom BBcode, and caching.
