To the Admins of Fanart Central,

I have already addressed this problem in the FAQ section, and would've preferred to wait until it was looked into, but I was later advised by a friend to start a topic here, due to the severity of the problem.

I have been unable to access my account on FAC's main site for nearly a week now. After typing my username and password into their respective boxes, I receive an error message which says: "login Failed.". (There is no code or additional message. Just those two words)
The username is correct, as is the password. At one point I assumed someone hacked into my account and changed my password, so I used the PW-recovery feature, but in the e-mail it was the same. I am typing it correctly, down to the last digit, yet the system is not accepting it.

Due to past experiences I am certain that this is the error one receives when an invalid password or username is entered. Which makes no sense whatsoever because I am obviously using the correct information. I have tried entering the password nearly (or perhaps more than) 100 times in total, and every time it is rejected. My "Last Visit" stat clearly says August 5th, so I doubt anyone has hacked into my account (if that was the case, the date would be more recent than that).

I have deleted my cookies and erased my Internet history. My browser is Internet Explorer 6.0 which is most definitely up-to-date. I am using the correct URL for Fanart Central (as suggested in the FAQ section). I have re-started my browser and computer after confirming those things. My computer has been scanned for viruses and none were found. I have looked at this from every possible angle I can think of, and I am unable to determine the problem and I do not know where to even begin to look for a solution...

Please help me. This is urgent, as there are two users who are awaiting replies to messages they left on my profile, and I do not want them to think I am ignoring them. If you need the technical information of my computer, such as connection speed, etc etc etc., please ask and I will provide it. Thanks in advance for taking a moment to answer.

Kind regards,
Smoke67

The symbols in your password are causing the problem (I'm not sure which one).

I have changed your password to just alphanumeric the characters.

Oh, really? I never thought symbols would cause problems... I guess, logically, maybe a * would cause a glitch or something... but I never used it... eh, in the future I'll just not use symbols then.

Well anyway... thank you; I am VERY grateful for this. *bows*

In theory, the symbols you choose shouldn't cause problems, but obviously they are.

For future reference for everyone, ' (apostrophe/single quote) is one that is likely to cause problems.
