|
|
Yeah, i use 'em, because I can't find the Prismacolor Pencils at Wal-Mart (no craft store).
See, I'm wondering. Whenever I got to color skin (whether it be for InuYasha characters or portraits), I always use the Peach-colored pencil.
Is that a good color to use?
If not....which color or colors should I blend to get a more desirable, realistic hue of human skin?
Would the White colored pencil work?
Please help me out on this, guys! I'm tired of plain ol' Peach skin! |

I don't draw skin (at least not pink skin) very often, but for the times I have, I generally find myself mixing a slew of colors, such as Peach, Pink, a bit of yellow or tan, even some red-orange and light brown. It depends on the context, but as a general rule, just experiment with various combinations until it looks right.
And don't be afraid to erase! Using your eraser will remove some (not all) of the color tones and allow you to mix more in later. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Well, I DID do something like that on a Colin Mochrie portrait I did, and it worked really well. I might just do that for now on. Thank you all!! |

For skin I usually like to use a combination of colors including purple (shadow), pink (deep midtone), orange (midtone), yellow (highlight), and white (shine). |

I've learned that it's usually best to use a compliment's color for shading rather than a blackened/grayed version of that same color. While a dark orange will make an orange object look dull, blue shading makes it pop. The same thing goes for a yellow object with puprple shading as well as other combinations. |

First I shade parts of the skin with the color sand. Then I use peach, and press fairly hard on it, not so light unless the character has really light skin. For lighter shading leave the space you want to be lightened. Then lightly color in with peach. Then use white to blend it in. Press fairly hard when coloring with the white, _________________

I remember using different shades of orange for shade...thats all I had T.T It gave my character this look of sun burn ,but as long as I got my point across I was happy. |

THe peach on my crayola is nearly dead i use it so mucu, but I mix it with the Tan pencil for darker areas. There are some blendabe crayola pencils you can get, but i've heard they're not very good |

Never use peach for skin!!! If you scan your pictures, peach is the enemy! Personally I use tan. A light brushing with tan, and maybe some white to lighten and blend works the best for Crayola. Peach makes it look too yellow. I know, makes no sense. But trust me! |
