Why are you visiting FAC less often?

And me, I have had no scanner all summer, plus I've been extremly busy and had a lot of issues at home, plus I was too lazy to go through the whole forum to resubcribe to stuff. Doing that now, as you can see. (I got my scanner back!!)

Why am I not visiting as much? Two main reasons:

-Ap Phsyics, AP Drawing Portfolio, AP Art History and AP Lit take up a LOT of time. I should actually be studying right now . . .

-I hate to say it, but it's one of the reasons, so I will . . . a lot of the art on the site is . . . not very interesting to me. Art I looked at a few years ago and thought was amazing I look at now and have a rather different opinion of. (And that's certainly not meant to sound mean; I know a lot of the artists here are younger and will vastly improve their skills as they age. I know I wasn't very good when I joined!)

As to why I AM still on here and posting work: I'm sorta attached to the site. It was my first art site, after all , and it "feels" a lot smaller than dA, which I like. And there [i]are[/i] some artists still worth watching.

But the reason I'm not visiting FAC as much as last year is because I don't receive the mails anymore ! I still have the options chosed in my profile and stuff, but I receive one message for like 5 comments ! So, I can't see who commented on my piccies anymore, my email box is empty, and I don't mind to take a look since I think I don't have any comment

Although, now, I'm checking it much often.

I think this has to do more with bounced emails. I had the same problem too, so try adding support@fanart-central.net and bounce@fanart-central.net to your addresses/whatever so you can allow these mails to get through and go to your inbox.

I believe it's a combination of many things. But here's my biggest:

People come and go. The FAC will probably be busy come another two or three months...and though that might be an enternity for some, the reality is it's just like real life. People go back to school, life gets busy again...I don't think it's severely-severely a matter of people abandoning the FAC...it's more a less a fact that their lives actually start getting busy.

And the only other thing is what TK already said: not informing the masses of the change. Of course, now that you've explained it more, I could see your way of thinking, but the reality was that it did kinda scare people. And they might just be spooked for a little while longer. The site is still (somewhat) the same...But some people are going to have to get used to that.

I think that is all that really is the main problem with less participation in the FAC.

And to tell true--I don't really like DA's forums...for some reason, they never appealed to me...It'll always be the FAC.

I've just been apathetic and uncreative, not even having drawn anything over the past few months. As for not visiting the forums for a while, I guess there just haven't been enough n00bs lately to debate with. I do get a kick out of debating with n00bs.

Well, I mostly come to FAC to post comments on pics, but...Is it just me, or are there a LOT less pics submitted than there used to be on average? There used to be about 20 pages on a slow day and now I'm used to seeing around 5. If there's nothing new for me to see, it doesn't give me much reason to come and comment.

I agree with The Writer though. School has just about started up again, so maybe after a while, things will pick up again.

If it's any consolation, I don't like Deviant Art at all. The categories and stuff are too confusing there, FAC has always been better in my eyes. The one thing Deviant Art is better for (sorry to say) is that you can post larger (and thus better quality) images.

Edit: Oh, something else that's annoying is finding random words turn into links that rant about "find love in your local area" and various other pointless things. Too much advertising, but I guess it pays.

What's wrong with the alert system? Too little? Too many notifications about artists updating their galleries? You do realize you can turn it on and off?

The notifications are something I'd always wanted FAC to get, IMHO

Yes, but FAC is a place for sharing artwork, not CENTERED on chatting.
If you know your friends, couldn't you take it to AIM or something? :/

As for another reason for my possibly wanting to leave (though I haven't yet) I find that, for most people, as they grow older, they tend to tire of fanart and focus on more original artwork. Therefore, a million artworks of Sonic and Inuyasha aren't that interesting to browse though anymore, though I have made many friends here.

Then again, it's not like a lot of other sites have good artists, but I tend to find that original artwork just might be a tad more sophisticated than fan-based work.

My boyfriend is eating my life and I haven't been using the Internet as much? And to add to that, I haven't been drawing as much. That's my own fault, though, not his. x: I haven't drawn anything but crappy little MSPaint doodles.

Or you put a lot of work into some big project and no one cares about it, but when its a fan doodle of InuYasha, hey look everyone's fav'ed it!

This problem has been FACs main problem since the beginning. Too many kids with their fanjap and such. I think the threads question is focusing more on the big change with FAC 2.0 yet I'm sure, if you're visiting less often, we'd like to know either way.
