Email Validation

I've been trying to help a new user recently who can't validate her email address. Every time she gets the validation email and clicks the given link she says it sends her straight to the forums. She can't submit any pictures because of this and is really eager to join the site. Her address is Amyrosesangel@aol.com although she said she put in amyrosesangel@aol.com. I suggested capitalizing the "A" to see if that would make a difference, but still haven't heard any responce from her. Could someone either check to see if this address in currently in use or anything else that might be preventing this user from joining? Thanks.
