:sigh: Is it worth my effort to try and keep this thread alive??
Like Kes said, angel667, don't necromance, please. (That is, to bring back up/post in threads that haven't been posted in for a long duration of time.)
And if you're going to talk in a subject, at least give a few decent paragraphs on what you liked or disliked about the game.
Personally, I loved the battling system. Real-time battles are my favorite, and though Star Ocean doesn't have a particularly 'manual' style for guarding, the way the fury works and the way the aaas work are rather interesting.
As well, since I recently learned how to chain, it's become a whole new challenge seeing which moves I can link to each other to blast the living daylights out of my enemies. :D
I also love the characters and the plotline, even if it's said to be overrated in comparison to, say, SO2.
Sophia is very annoying; in all games, it seems to be that there's always to be the annoying female lead character who can't do a thing worthwhile, and who at the same time the main male lead character somehow manages to fall for.
Sophia's eyes also seriously bug me, as does her demeanor and outfit.
Albel and Fayt are awesome, and if you're talking about AlbelFayt, it's a lovely pairing, if slightly cliched. Albel has a slightly coughable outfit, but I like his attitude and the stubbornness of Fayt as well.
Also, characters like Maria, Cliff, and Nel are also very unique and quite lovely. The storyline is catchy and interesting.
My faults with SO3 would lie in its complexity. For one, I'm not done the game, but there's no way I would ever want to go through 211 levels of Sphere. [even if you can skip 100 or so]
It's just outrageous. I like some amount of dungeon crawling, but 20 hours for a single dungeon? That's too much.
As well, I don't really like the whole inventing thing. It's a bit fun at first, but throw into it so many inventors, cost applications, price ranges, abilities and chances of success/failure, and over all that, [i']Synthesis, and you've just got yourself a right mess.
Otherwise though, SO3 is a really top-notch game with excellent plot, characters, and a killer battle system that keeps you on edge.
I can live with the faults. :) _________________ |
