OHBOY AN ANIME, because everybody loves watching characters sit around and talk for 24 minutes.
Naw, just kidding. I'm pretty excited about it, mostly because it looks like it's good quality.
Here are the only two pictures I've been able to find (WARNING: LARGE IMAGES): http://www.deathgod.org/multi/scans/05.jpg
http://www.deathgod.org/multi/scans/06.jpg
Here's the page on ANN for VA and music information:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=6592
I still wanted to believe the rumor that Paku Romi would be playing L. Kappei Yamaguchi is good too, though it does put odd little images in my head of L doing that annoyed screaming thing that InuYasha and Ranma do. 8D
The op. and ed. will be performed by Nightmare, a Japanese Visual Kei band. I hope these songs are better than what music I went and downloaded from this band. I mean, good lord, the vocals = OUCH. MY EARS. Can't say I was expecting much from jrock anyway. _________________ FAC |

Oh my, a DN anime? WHAT A SURPRISE (lol, not really).
I'd watch it just for Kappei Yamaguchi, but otherwise, I am not terribly interested. How exciting can it possibly be? Wonder how long it's planned to run for.
I should finish the manga before it is inevitably spoiler'd for me. |

It'll probably be a 2-season anime (50 eps -ish) (one season for L and one season for Near+Mello) with a lot of filler and forced action and comedy to make it more interesting to watch. :/ _________________ FAC |

My prediction is that it's going to be Two minutes of Openings and endings, Thirty seconds of stuff actually happening and the rest is going to be BLAH BLAH DICK and homoerotica-That is, if they don't completely deviate from the manga. If not an anime may totally redeem the series for me!
As for Yamaguchi as L..well, now a G Gundam and Death Note crossover is possible--Name that confuses scanlators gundam GO GO! SPOILER: NTCS Gundam gets shot in the head by Clumsy and Cute Gundam. So yeah. But DAMN. Miyano as Light? That's fuckawesome. _________________ |

Anyone else actually watch it yet?
I have to say I wasn't really impressed, but I suppose I shouldn't expect much from the first episode (and considering it hasn't deviated from the manga at all, as of yet). It was better than I thought it'd be, I guess. Not a huge fan of the OP or the ED, though.
Miyano is wicked awesome as Light, in my opinion. His little evil laugh is so adorable in an odd way. ^_^
Eh, guess I'll have to wait till I catch the next episode to see what I really think, but I'll probably hang onto this series for awhile. _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

I'm not fond of Raito's voice. His voice is irreversibly linked with Tamaki from Ouran. Mm. Too high or something. Not a bad job, actually. I just don't like his sound.
Nightmare. Eh. They're alright. They don't fail.. but they're not great. Wonder why they did BOTH songs. Ending animation is pretty good. The opening had.. waaay too many apples. Raito looks really odd with red hair.
Thought Ryuk looked great. Liked his voice, too.
Mm. Can't wait to hear L talk.
The thing I found most amusing would have to be their attempt to include action. DRAMATIC WRITING GESTURES. Oh dear. _________________ Go Yankees! |

...I totally forgot Miyano did Tamaki. o_o Well...that puts the entire episode in a whole new light.
And I agree; loved Ryuk's voice. His line about the juicy apples was so him. ^_^

I actually started laughing at that point. =D The Latin (?) background music just made it so over the top that I couldn't help myself. Did add entertainment to the episode, though.
I can only imagine what they'll do to alleviate boredom in the business arc. O_O _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

It was more entertaining. That was the best part of episode one. I don't think we were supposed to have found it utterly hilarious, though.

Play up the handcuffed bit for the raving yaoi fangirls. 8D Kidding, kidding. Or.. maybe not. I don't think the bulk of the business arc is going to cause them trouble. If the anime loses viewers, it'll mostly be because of the tragedy around chapter... was it 58? I actually stopped reading at that part for a few months.. Then later on an artist on dA did a picture with a spoiler warning.. and I had to go read the rest of the manga before I looked at the picture because I'm anal about those sorts of things. _________________ Go Yankees! |

I think 58 is the right one...I dunno', I was one of the only people I know who didn't stop reading at that point, but I suppose it was because I liked Mello right away...
But that Higuchi bit...ugh. So freakishly boring.
Who knows, maybe the anime will give Near/Nia a personality, catch me off guard and make me interested. _
I kinda' hope the anime does a Wammy side story, but I don't really expect one.

Heh, I've done that with Fruits Basket before.
A bit off topic here, but this is a Death Note topic...did you know L's name is supposedly going to be revealed when the 13th volume is released this Friday? Erg, I like not knowing...hope it's not as bad as Mello's name was. o_o _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

Wait wait. It.. ended right? Are you talking about some translated not Japanese version? Spoiler highlight --> I'm pretty sure that they're never going to reveal L's name. What's the point? He's already dead and everyone calls him "L." Anyway, we can infer that Raito actually already knows what it is. He picked up Rem's death note that she used to kill L. His name is in there. The author just doesn't want us to know and I think most of us would be happier not knowing. <-- Stop highlighting. I actually don't remember Mello's real name. I probably thought it was horrible, though. Actually I think all of the names were pretty bad. Take a glance down that FBI list. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Volume 13 isn't a part of the series, no. It's like an extra book, or official analysis manual type thing.
It comes with L's real name, official profiles of all the characters, special illustrastions, an interview with Obata and Ohba...you name it. The special edition even comes with those little toys (the ones that looked like the characters) that Near/Nia played with all the time. ^_^
The author just doesn't want us to know and I think most of us would be happier not knowing.
That's what I thought, and it still bugs me, but I know curiosity is going to win me over in the end and I'm going to look it up. _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

Oh. Suck. Suck and fail. If it does have L's real name, I'll be highly disappointed. Watch it be Hideki Lyuuga or [something] Lyuuzaki. Neek.

Inevitably someone's going to include it in a description of a picture or a fanfic or a forum post and forget to put a spoiler warning and you're going to find out and you'll know it forever and ever until you turn old and senile. _________________ Go Yankees!

I dunno'...all the other kids in the Wammy Orphanage (Mello, Nia, Matt) have English names... It should be something unexpected. I'd die if his name was Watari. >_>
Lyuuga... I'm going to call him that for the rest of the week.

Wow...for some reason that makes me really scared. o_o Gr...It'd better not happen or I will retaliate with such a fury-
Or I'll just sob. Maybe that. ;_; _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?
I actually don't remember Mello's real name.
Mihael Keehl.
I really shouldn't know this. : (
Anyway, I watched the anime, and I actually thought it was pretty high-quality, especially for being based off of a Jump manga. The animation was clean and smooth, though yeah, it was pretty amusing to see them make an attempt at action. xD
I wasn't all too impressed with the OP/ED, though I liked the ED better. Good enough to download, I suppose. :/
I want to know L's real name just so I can spout it out at obnoxious fanbrats who don't even know L DIES yet. 8D Man, spoilering makes me happy. _________________ FAC |

Isn't Jump stuff normally fairly good, though? (Just going off of Bleach and D.Gray-Man...)

I must admit, I did have a lot of fun spoiling the ending of Death Note to my friend who'd just read the first three books. >>;;; He just seemed so proud that he'd read it and was already spouting off about how cool Raito was...I couldn't help myself. ^_^ _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

I think so. My current top four manga obessions are all published in jump.

Jump comics are usually great, it's the anime that gets based off of them that is usually subpar.
I was... highly disappointed with the D.Gray-Man anime. :/ _________________ FAC |

Seriously? I admit I only saw about half of the first episode, but I thought it was pretty good. oo Definitely surpassed my expectations, at least.

Yesh...only a tad. ^_^
'Kay...I really hope the anime incorporates Matt into the second season more 'cause I really want to know more about him. _________________ 'Cause this would just be anticlimactic, wouldn't it?

I dunno. I'm a bit of a quality animation whore, and D.Gray-man's animation was just boring and blah, and the art style changed from the vaguely original style in the manga to a boring generic animu style. :<
Yeah, I wanted to know more about matt. I also wanted to know more about Aiber and Wedy.
I love minor characters. D: _________________ FAC |

Aiber and Wedy? I thought it was Abel and Wendy. Ah, whatever. Yeah. They left a bit too quickly for me.
Oh god. The spoilerwarninglackage has happened already. I'll just say that L's name is.. lawl-worthy. Good news is.. we only get a last name. Birthday is Halloween~ _________________ Go Yankees! |
