Well, I've never had a PS1 (yes gasp, I missed all the good PS1 games T_T) and all the PS1 games I've played on my friend's system so I'm not sure but...
Can a PS2 memory card save PS1 games? Or do you need to get a PS1 memory card? And also if that's true, do the PS1 memory cards work on the PS2?
I need to start thinking things through before I buy my games... (has 3 PS1 games she can't save) |

You cannot use a PS2 memory card on a PS1.
You can use a PS1 memory card on a PS2 to save and load PS1 savegames (I play some PS1 games on my PS2, and use my old PS1 memory card on it).

So, if you have a PS2, you'll have to get a PS1 memory card to save or load PS1 games for it. |

That is to say, yes you can archive PS1 saves on a PS2 card. But PS2 cards are not backwards-compatible with PS1 games (yeah, I really wish they were, too) so a PS1 game must use an actual PS1 card.
Though for the PS3 this will likely be a different story, since the console itself isn't backwards-compatible with either. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Yet if you archive you run a high risk of corrupting PS2 data.
EX:Spyro games from PS1 Corrupt Spyro: A Hero's Tail |

That's definitely a risk if the two games use the same naming conventions for their savedata files. Can't have two files with the same name, can we? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
