Okami blows both of those games away.
It's the most creative, unique implementation of a cel-shading engine, the gameplay has a lot of variety and it has a stellar soundtrack. Plus it's just plain fun. The story gets . . . really weird about 30 hours in but then you see some really awesome stuff happening. Like one boss who can use his own brush techniques against you, a whole clan of (for lack of a better term) "werewolves", a legendary solar eclipse and risking a whole time-paradox... yup, it's that cool. Ammy looks cool on his(?) own, but once you see what the legendary Shiranui looked like . . . nothing's the same anymore.
FF7 is over-rated simply because it was the first Final Fantasy game most people played. The story and presentation were the only major improvements; gameplay wise only the Materia system was new, everything else was been-there done-that territory.
And the Legend of Spyro: New Beginning? Great story and presentation, but like FF7, the gameplay doesn't quite live up to it. Same enemies, repetitive combat. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Actually, you can only use the "Golden Fury" technique in battles. Outside of combat, Okami merely barks. (Which is cool anyway.)
Let's just say that things get really weird in the northern area of continent, and once you go through the so-called "Spirit Gate", it gets even weirder.
I can't really say what without spoiling a lot of things, but Shiranui looks similar to Ammy except only 3x cooler and an absolute master of the Celestial Brush.
You eventually get weapons imbued with fire and lightning powers, which you can use in conjunction with your fire and electric brush techniques.
There's a really cool plot event that happens halfway through the mountain of Kezofuji when the twin bosses appear, and it would totally ruin it if I said exactly what. It's very high on the awesome meter, but like Issun says at the time , "Believe me, it's a long story" . . . so no spoilers, you just have to play it for yourself. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Okami's weapons fall into three categories, with five different weapons for each.
Reflectors: Basic melee weapon, can also be used as a shield.
Rosaries: String of beads that can be weilded like a whip, or fired off like bullets.
Glaives: Sword that is also a melee weapon, but each individual hit can be charged up to inflict more damage.
But if we're going to keep talking Okami, I'd better start a new thread for it. I beat the game last night, and while the ending was not quite as exciting as I had hoped, I have to admit, you get to unlock some awesome extras, and I received an overall "A" rank (e.g. second best) in game completion percentages. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

The whip sounding one reminds me of Ivy from the Soul Calibur series. She pwns all!
(Except Spyro, Megaman, X, Zero, and Axl of course.) |

The best game ever huh? That's easy, it is Final Fantasy 10. Between awsome graphics and cutscenes, it has good voices, a well put together plot, a wide variety of charachters, and nice SFX. The only setback is the battle type. I prefer turn based, not the way they put it. |

Is FFX that one game they made a 3rd person shooter out of?
It's....alright....RPGs are my weakness. Both RPGs
(Roleplay Games and Rockect Propeled Grenades. I HATE THOSE FRIGGIN NADES!)
Hmmm. SSBB is another good one. Same wit COD3 and Soul Calibur 4 |

No, but FFX-2 did include a 3rd-person shooter minigame. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

....Final Fantasy X was turn-based. :S
FF: Dirge of Cerberus was the 3rd person shooter.
As for a good game? Well, since I'm already on the topic of FF, I might as well mention FFT. Despite the botched translation job, it's still one of the better (I'd say "best", but I haven't played all of them. Doubtful I'd change my opinion, though) FF games. Incredible storyline, characters, and certainly well worth replaying. Over and over again~ (I actually ruined the game disk by playing it so often, and I had to get a replacement!) |

Well there are a boatload of storylines that are just as good....or even better.
Okami was just as good, uh......the newer Spyro was just as good, um......I think Call Of Duty is another one too.
There are lots with good storylines. I like games that I can relate to like call of duty and spyro.
If you must know how the heck COD fits in then just ask |

I said "excellent storylines" - not stuff you can relate to. I could care less about that. :l
There are reasons why certain books are considered to be classics; studied in English and Literature classes as well as in university. And then there are the other books that are fun, but you'd never see them anywhere near a classroom and you'd probably forget what happened in the story within a couple months' time.
Storyline. Somehow I doubt those games you mentioned managed to roll up political, social, and religious commentary into it, as well as the other necessary factors to make it an "epic" story like the tragic characters, vendettas, the ruining of innocence, betrayal, coup d'etats, the fall of God, etcetera etcetera. Symbolism is my baby~♥
Also, the characters are realistic. I don't remember Okami or Spyro ever having that, lol. :l
I play A LOT of games, and I have yet to play a game with a plot as involved as FFT's. :l |

Those three do have "Excellant Storylines"
I'm just saying what makes it even better is that I can relate to those two. They still have good plot an all I'm just saying they have a bounus..... |

Realistic and believable are not necessarily the same thing. You accept Okami for its Japanese-fairy-tale setting, and Spyro . . . well, still a work-in-progress. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Oh spyro isn't all that bad.
Spyro is some once in a purple thing that is destined to destroy the mysterious black dragon, Cynder.
HL2?! I forgot about that game too! AND I HAVE IT! (And beaten it too. Snipers are very noticeable! YAY! ^^) |

But why? You can't hold that opinion for long if you don't back it up. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
