What kinds of books do you like to read? Mystery? Adventure? Fantasy?
List which ones and tell us WHY.

For me, it's a lot of fantasy. However, I don't read Tamora Pierce or somewhat, as I found that rather dull... The stereotypical fantasy with a million new terms and the same characters and plotline dulls me.
Instead, I like more varied fantasy... for example, the 'Borderland' stories by Charles De Lint, books by Holly Black, 'The Haunting of Elizabeth Cray' [I believe], ones that obviously contain the impossible, but aren't the over-used old tales of heros saving the world. It just gets too cliche and overused.

Linked to this would probably be Action/Adventure, as that's mainly what I like to read about, instead of waiting on eternal descriptions and dialogue.

Also, I love historical fiction that relates to the ancient civilizations:
Stories on mythology are also often interwoven with that genre, but I just pick them all out. The ancient civilizations of Greece, Rome, Crete... the tribes there, Norse and Celtic... It's all some really interesting and good stuff.

Just a few main likes... What about you? Very Happy

I absolutely love sci-fi/fantasy, too. I believe that Tamora Pierce's books were the first fantasy books that I had ever read. So, naturally, I liked them. Now, I've stopped reading them...Hrm.

Good sci-fi that I want to read now, though, is Terry Pratchet. Satire!

The genres that I absolutely turn away from: romance (bleh! DX), modern teen girl love-hate OMG like that b*tch stole my f-ing boyfriend, and history. My sister found some good historical fiction, so I'm okay with that.

Urr, yup, some sci-fi is good, dependning on what it's on. ^_~ And I agree on the Romance and teen books. Burr.

Also, Lawyer books. >>; John Grisham killed me.
My mom loves those books though for some reason, and she listens to audiocasettes on the same stuff.
Either Lawyers, Sidney Sheldon, murder... crap like that. SO boring. >>;
[Not to be insulting, just is boring to me...]

Yurr.

I love fantasy and horror because they're the only books that can really suck me in an have me going "OMFG what's gonna happen *pageturnpageturnpageturn*"

... that actually made no sense, but, yeah, I like fantasy and horror. Preferably together ^.^

I prefer biographies and autobiographies. I'm a boring person.

Sci-Fi, as in Star Wars based books, like Jedi Academy Trilogy.
I also like fantasy type books, but I'm so extremely picky about what to read it's not true.
Dan Brown books... I don't know what genre they'd fall under- thriller with a bit of fantasy and crime thrown in for good measure, perhaps?

I pick em all. Buuuuuut since I AM writing a fantasy novel, I guess I have to go with fantasy. Loyalty and all that jazz.
