The Inkheart trilogy is interesting, but not enitrely original, heavens no. Countless authors have dreamed of going into their creations, their worlds, but Inkheart combines it all into one seeminly big mess. At least in the first book. The second book I haven't finished reading yet. XD

The first book starts off with showing how Meggie and her father Mo have a disturbing obsession with books. Books are great and all, but, they might like them a tad bit too much. Its awesome to have a house littered with books, but just the way the describe it unerves me. The beginning is alright, and then Dustfinger comes in. Meggie, being the 12 year old girl she is, wants him to go away. Curse her. Luckily, Mo does not, and things kick up a little bit. Somehow, the way Cornelia Funke described Dustfinger had a striking resembalance to Viggo Mortensen(SP?). Or, Eragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That's beside the point though. From there, Meggie eventually finds out about things beyond her tender years which aren't so tender anymore, and begins to be entwined in a tale of random violence and men who dearly love their knives. Of course, there is more than that, but I'm here to complain. Aren't I?

First of all, the character Meggie. She reminds me of a lot of other protaginist females, and even reminds me of Meg in A Wrinkle in Time. Yes, she does, I don't care what you say. The problem with her is that she begs Mo to do some unecessary things sometimes. "Please Mo, lets not go into the square!" So who cares if Dustfinger is sitting there? I don't see any other problems! Second, Elinor. I've had quite enough of the term "Heavens above", but thankfully, Inkspell doesn't have a lot of it. She also uses swearing at ridiculous times sometimes. I thought this was gonna be a kid's book, but her... vocabulary, made me think otherwise. Third, Dustfinger. I don't see much wrong with him, he was just a minor traitor at one part. That was all. Fourth: Farid. He had a bad attitude at first, at he didn't seem to like Meggie as much as she should have. My fingers are cramping now, but I will press on. Fifth: Basta. That giant man thinks of nothing but wringing people's necks and slitting their throats or carving patters similar to Dustfinger's scars. I'm sick of it. A lot of the villans are overly cruel. Too cruel in fact. But I guess that's the way they should be. Cruel.

Inkheart: 7/10 for me.

Inkspell is shaping up to be a lot better than before. The villans have lost their over angst and Meggie and Farid have matured a bit more. There's a 'heavens above' here and there, but besides that, its great.

What do you think of these books?

I read the first book, got it from the school library, and it was quite good. A little on the slow side, but I can cope.

Oh and since when was Eragon in Lord of the rings trilogy. Last time I looked, he was to busy saving whatever his worlds callled and his cousins girlfriend to see whats happening over in Middle Earth

I seem to have mispelled...

Sorry, it's "Aragorn". Actually I'm not sure. Too lazy to look up.

But I know that there's a character in Lord of the Rings that has a name with similar spelling.
