I'm still a bit confused as to why the first thread on this was closed, as, this is pretty much a duplicate of that one @_@

The same one was suspected as stolen, but there were different pictures shown to show the artists consistant skill level. The thread was posted before the artist uploaded the newer images featured here, though it was still about comparing the massive MASSIVE, like, 10 year gap in skill between the Sailor Moon image and the rest of the artists gallery.

One argument is that there is no way to tell when the picture was drawn.

There is a difference between gettig better consistantly, and getting 10 years better for one image, then going 10 years back again for everything else. Art takes a lot of practice to improve upon and a lot, LOT LOT LOT of time. That one image demonstrates a better line quality, knowlege of preportion, knowlege of bending abilities to match the original style and skill that I doubt anyone on FAC could do, even some of the best artists here. Not to mention, that skill takes more then just a few months to develop. Its near impossible to draw fanart in the style of the original creator, even for professional artists. That alone takes years of practice, and that practice shows off in the progress of the other images leading up to the newer ones.

Some artist have a lot of stuff posted on their pages, years worth of art. If you see this, you see that their first page's art is horrible compared to their new work, but all the pages in between show the progress the artist made to get to the point of having so much skill.

I would not even consider posting the things I drew just a few years ago because I'm embarassed by it, I improved a lot and want to show people by BEST work, so I only upload the things I feel I did very well on. I would not upload on FAC my 6th grade doodles, I can do far better then that. If you compare that one image with the artists newer work (which should by any means be better, since the artist pretty much says it was made recently), there's no doubt that there is a massive inconsistancy with everything, which causes the suspiscion to begin with.

That plus the image looks familear to more then just a few people Smile

Nice work, ginny. Now for an overlay test -- for sake of argument, I'm going to overlay the one found on dA, to the manga page.

And the details match up near exactly. There are slight variations in such things as fingertips, but the overall lines and form are unmistakable.

So, did we just prove the DA artist was cheating? >.<

DeviantART's FAQ specifically states that they do not allow "tracing" or directly copying a source artwork, so as a normal member of dA I have reported it to dA staff as a violation of their policy.

Our policy is similar (though not as eloquently phrased). I just performed an overlay test on the suspected FAC submissions. Not only did their lines and form match up precisely and exactly, but I did not even have to scale them to the same size as each other before comparing them. I just hit Paste, set opacity to 50%, aligned and voilĂ , perfect match with the manga page scan.

Verdict is: Tracing violation, and removal from the defendant's FAC gallery.

Court is adjourned. *pounds gavel*
