Okay sorry if someone else posted this already but...

I was just browsing on FAC and something popped up and next thing I new, my virus program was freaking out.

I believe I got a virus from a popup on FAC. I don't know if anything can be done about that; my program sucessfully healed whatever it was, but someone else might not be as fortunate. Just posting FYI.

Which popup was it?

I have never seen anything like that myself.

If you don't give all the details I can't track it down and remove it.

My pop-up blocker pretty much takes care of it.

I might have more information. I must've had at least a dozen Firefox tabs open at the time, but... AVG reported an infection by Trojan horse Collected.11.B .

And I had IE windows popping up. IE popups. When I'm using Firefox.

One of the processes I killed during the fight seems to have stopped it.

(update) According to AVG's test results, the horse seemed to check in the 15th or so, from an infected e-mail. I'd like to find some official information on what this particular horse is capable of, but so far the only things I've found are forum links.

Oh, and HJT.

I think this is the cause of all my grief:

http://virusinfo.prevx.com/pxparall.asp?PXC=066490421168

It's a little piece of malware called "xloadnet.exe" -- which according to Google (fewer than a dozen hits!) is a very young li'l horse.

Among other things, it puts itself in your startup group, so I'm thankful for XP letting me manually kill the process off so I could delete it.

AVG is reporting no other threats at this time. Hope that settles it, but with modern viruses and malware these days you never know for sure.

But, if it's possible I want to know why it only seemed to act up when I was doing FAC category work in Firefox. It never summoned any pop-ups when I was checking Hotmail, Deviantart, or Wikipedia.

I just got one of those annoying ads for SysProtect (a known trojan) occuring in Firefox.

Had three FAC pages open at the time.
