Okay well so far i''ve got one really anoying one, and one just annoying one.
I've noticed an ad on some of the pages that when you pass your mouse over it is sends this little box floaing into your window that says something like "Stop what your doing and take this survey" or something close, its got a stop sign in it and its asking for a survey to be taken. wasn't to bad becuase i only seen it about half the times i'd gone back to my profile.
But the really annoying one seems to never stop trying and its usually active in the art veiwing page. this one is from clickster.com or something like that and it never stops opening an entirely new window to display this ad. for other it will not be acceptable. I hate having to close windows that i don't start.
somebody please fix these annoying things.
thanks in advance |

If I encounter it I'll try to track it down, but I'm not using clickstor so it must be coming from another ad agency who is. |

Try to note who (whicever site or group) is sponsoring the ad, or take a screenshot of it. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Can I just extend on the basic issue of ads in general?
I had this pop-under recently:
http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1446/adunderzs0.jpg
Only screen I could get of it, sorry.
Also though, it might be another ad/pop-up already mentioned; I can't really tell, because I have Google Toolbar, and it blocks the popup. But whatever popup it is, it keeps on trying to get in. Either that, or it's an unending chain of popups. I haven't been able to get a screenshot of the page though, because I can hardly navigate the page when the popup attack occurs; I basically have to exit out of the window then try again.
Do you know what this might be, and do you know any way to fix it?
Thanks! _________________ |

screen shots can be taken using special programs that allow you to take a picture of your desktop and its contents basicly. or some of these ads can actually be saved as a picture and so forth. and it will go in any folder that you put it in i guess, unless the program has its own subfolders to allocate any pictures taken.
And i haven't seen the clickstor ad again, but when i did it came up multiple times like the one Trinity_Fire just mentioned. I'll be on the lookout for them though.
and if i find one i'll report it here.
EDIT:
this is getting bad.....
As i was entering the "new layout and design" area of this forum i blocked a popup.
Do we even have ads in the forums??
I tried to see what the popup was but i couldn't recover anything on it. |

Another thing, those who don't have pop up blockers are probably going through hell
My pop up blocker occasionally informs me of about 200 pop ups being blocked on only one page of the site (usually pictures) and even blocking them slows down my computer
EDIT: Here's another one
Thats odd... I thought I put the link there
I don't have it anymore, sorry

I'll turn off one of the ad agencies. Let me know if the problems go away. |

You don't need a special program. Just press the "Prt Sc/SysRq" button (should be near "scroll lock" and "Pause Break" keys in the upper right). Then open a paint program (MS Paint should do), then "paste" (Ctrl-V). |

Pop-up blocker? That's weird, I myself do not get popups while browsing FAC, nor Firefox telling me about blocking them. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Sorry denis, but the popups seem to keep happening. Lately, I got hit by another 'unending' ad... Eventually though, I actually got a pop-under, and then the google toolbar stopped blocking, when it was all done. But then a second pop-under appeared, and then my computer froze over. :/
Not fun. |

I wonder. The last time I was getting popups, it was because of a trojan. Removing it was certainly NOT fun, but my system seems to be running clean again.
I don't want to cry wolf or suggest it might be the cause of these popups as well, but as a precaution do you have HiJack This installed? _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Um, actually, yes, I do have Hijack this installed. Is it the cause?? _________________ |

I've turned off another one -- if this doesn't fix it, I don't know where its coming from.
Somebody will have to install the web developer toolbar and help me trace it with view frame source. |
