Copyrights and Pics

Hello! I have a question. I can;t quite find this situation in the FAQs and Rules. So. I know that tracing a copyrighted picture is a no no, and posting e dited CR pics is a no no and all...but what about pictures *copied*? The two pictures I have that come under this are a drawing (not tracing) of the cover of the movie The Mask, and a picture of Jack Sparrow and Will Turner back to back in the well-known picture of them. Again, not traced, but hopied. They are here:

And what about in the future? If one were to use a screen shot and draw the scene on the screenshot, or draw a picture of Link from Legend of Zelda firing his slingshot like is in the walkthrough guide...are those allowed, not allowed, or borderline?

I have apparntly been put on the "auto-allow" list so I don;t have to go through the mods (Thanks much!) so I wanted to make sure before I uploaded them.

Normally whatever you hand draw is copyrighted to you, not unless you've signed some contract of some kind that's signing over any rights.
As for copying, it's aloud as long as it isn't traced, meaning it has to be hand rendered and coloured by yourself. Copying is a great way of starting out and trying to practice but can get a little boring for people when they've seen the images done so many times before and want to see something more original.
