I need something new to read/watch. Must be available in English (licensed, scanlated, fansubbed, etc.) and preferably on the longer side. I'm a sucker for nice artwork. Not too fond of flat-out romance. I'm fine with gore, sex, yaoi, yuri, etc.
Like: Vagabond, One Piece, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, anything by Junji Ito, anything by Tsutsui Tetsuya, early Naruto, Homonculus, Monster.
Anything super-popular (Bleach, Death Note, Inuyasha, etc.) I've most likely already read/seen. _________________ Go Yankees! |

D.Gray-man? *punched* The anime's shitty, but the manga's relatively nice.
The Star Ocean 3 manga (lol based off a video game) also has decent art and a decent story. The scanlators kinda went awol after doing the first three volumes, though. :\ And their editor needs to be shot.
Hmm... I don't generally read longer stuff; the only other thing I'd recommend at the moment is Hand Which (scanlated by Dangerous Pleasure) - only one volume, but the story is pretty Awww~ inspiring. ^^;;
ETA: Oh, and you're looking for anime, too?
I RECOMMEND TOWARD THE TERRA. It's sci-fi, but... FUCK. Seriously. I love this anime so fucking much. Everytime I finish an episode, my SOUL CRIES OUT FOR MORE.
If you're looking for comedy, Hayate no Gotoku is decent in that department. (lol, parodies.) |

I'm sure you've seen/ read Fullmetal Alchemist. 51 eps, a movie, and 16 books out so far, and the series is still continuing. You can watch it on veoh.com and read it on Spectrum Nexus(google it, it's the best).
Kamikaze kaitou jeanne is good too. There's about 44 eps, and 7 manga books. |

I've read the first volume of D.Gray-man like three times, still can't get into it. Is the beginning really boring or something? If I suffer through it a bit more does it get better?
Never seen/read any of FMA, mostly because its fanbase consists mostly of flying retards. That, and if I do watch it now, I won't be able to think about anything else but Lakilester and her watersports fetish.
Checking out the others now. Based on its wiki article, Toward the Terra looks promising. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Immortal Rain is a really good one. The art style starts out rather generic (and, well, it kinda stays somewhat that way) but the artist is absolutely amazing at drawing really dynamic action poses. The storyline starts out kinda cliche, but the characters really build on you, and it goes much more in-depth. It's a really good series.
...Have you ever picked up Saiyuki? (For some reason, I feel like you have...) That's great, too. Original art style, action and humor.
D.Gray-Man is pretty good. Storyline a bit cliche, but I liked the designs, and the art isn't bad.
Suikoden is good if you like action. This manga has a lot of battles and tactics, as well as a huge cast of characters. Again, it's kinda like Immortal Rain; the art for actual people ain't too swell, but the character designs (which were all from the game, though) are really awesome, and the artist excells at drawing bodies in action, animals, fight scenes, etc. Really nice series.
What else...? Hellsing. Bloody and hilarious. (I think you have this too, though...)
Well, anyway. Good luck. : ) _________________ |

Hahaha~ D.Gray-Man's your typical shounen fare. It doesn't get much different from that through the series, although it does -eventually- grow a plot (which I suppose is questionable, depending on your tastes).
I assume you've already seen/read Mushishi?
Hmm~ Trinity Blood is good if you like vampires, although I can't really say it's long - the author died prematurely. His friend was requested to finish it for him, though, so it's stopped at 12 volumes (the novels, anyway...). The manga has 8 or so? And the anime has a rather open-ended ending because of that. :x Shit happens and it starts to get nonsensical around the last couple episodes.
I don't know how much of TB is scanlated, although it is licensed and published in NA (by TokyoPop, I think).
Oh, and if CLAMP doesn't make you punch holes in the wall yet, Tsubasa RC is alright. It's their only manga that I can really tolerate, though, lol.

I'd recommend these:
RG Veda A wonderful manga series by the famous CLAMP. It tell the story of these two people who are looking for six stars, who will ultimately bring down the reign of an evil king. Set in a totally fantasy world. It's all in English but the sound effects are mostly in Japanese.
Eerie Queerie! It says it's a drama, but there's tons of comedy. It's a mild shounen ai story- very, very mild (but I like it, even if I don't dig same sex relationships well). It's about this high school boy who can see ghosts. Ultimately, all sorts of zany things happen and this boy gets possessed a lot of times in the beginning. It's a four part manga series.
DN Angel About a boy, who, when he thinks of the person he loves, he changes into a Phantom Thief. The plot gets complex from a couple of issues in and there are many times when the boy is too close to the day when those he cares about will know what he is.
Those are my recommendations for you. Please check them out. All are in English, with most sound effects in Japanese. _________________ The Force will be with you... always. |

Seen Saiyuki, seen Hellsing, read Eerie Queerie! (and didn't like it, lol), seen Outlaw Star. Unfortunately the OS manga kinda sucks, but the anime was good.
I've read a lot of CLAMP, but I don't actually like most of it, haha. X was pretty, but didn't make any sense whatsoever. Chobits was funny sometimes, but the overall story was rather dull. I've been hesitant to pick up TRC since it seems to make references to / involve CCS characters, and I've never read/seen any of that.
Never even heard of Mushishi before you mentioned it, lol. It looks promising~ _________________ Go Yankees! |

Oh, hahaha~ It's just that I expect anyone I hold in relatively high regard (as pertains to their interest in anime/manga) to have seen or read Mushishi already, since it's just that good and the narutards are likely to be lost on it.
WATCH IT. READ IT. LOVE IT. but watch toward the terra first *punched*
I actually got into it because of Blian-kun. :x Although I say it's really good, I still haven't finished it, lolz.
Hmm hmm~ TRC does reuse characters from CLAMP's other works, but it has nothing to do with them besides the character design. They explain it as these are basically the same people, except living in different worlds... Yanno, AU crossover stuff. Lazy bastards. I bet they just wanted to dress Sakura up into 283941048 more costumes. :x I actually like the story to a certain point, although it has the whole "this is going to last forever on one plot point like Inuyasha did" thing going for it. :\
I'm just reading it to find the backstory of my favourite character. 15 volumes, and I still haven't seen any of it yet. :\ |
