I've just come from DeviantArt to here and was really surprised at the fact your pictures have to be validated. I'm just wondering...why? It's the most annoying thing. At DeviantArt the pictures come up instantly and their pictures aren't that bad.
I mean...if they upload something that's against the rules...why not just ban them once you find it? |

Theft prevention, catigorizational accuracy among many other things.
We don't allow a lot of things like screen caps and Photography and that stuff gets filtered out and directed in the right direction, also here as you have no doubt noticed we have a much more sofisticated category system than DA and new users donot always grasp this.
technically it is only temporary, when a user has proven they understand the diffrent aspects of the sight they no longer need to go threw the pre-screening process so... _________________ RPG-n. So there isn't a set time?
But...how can a mod know if a pictures stolen or traced or whatever...? And would people seriously begin to upload photos and stuff like that? Wouldn't they know it would get taken down immediately once someone saw it? |

I don't believe so. Then you could just upload something original, wait six months, come back, and start stealing artwork left and right.

Yes they would, people are stupid, and nobody reads the rules anyway. _________________ Go Yankees! |

I read them. T.T
If they don't read the rules, and submit something they shouldn't, they you should just go ahead and ban them or something. It's their own stupidity, don't cushion them... |

FAC itself decides when you are ready to bypass the approval panel through a secret algorithm based on your past submissions. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

It's a matter of experience, and instinct; there are few thieves who will put enough effort into the submission process to successfully pass themselves off as the original artist.
Usually a stolen piece has some very obvious signs hinting that something's not quite right about it. If we can't track an original down ourselves, we simply note our suspicion about it and wait for reports.
And then there's the ones who do something totally stupid, like that one thief who tried accusing snapesnogger of "stealing their work"... take a guess which one was banned without further ado _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Oh ok, I guess I get. It's still not any less annoying but I'll get used to it. ^.^

Please, Snapesnogger of all people? Wow...actually, I've seen her work get stolen on another website too. Just...jeeze. |

Curious, on average, how long do approvals take now? I think my last wait was maybe a day. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Well, from the information I gathered over the past month or so, it depends on when you submit. Thursdays and fridays take a wile, but the rest should be up or out anywhere within four to twenty-four hours. _________________ RPG-n.
