Seemed appropriate to put here.
Um... I'm looking for a place to talk about comics. Not manga, but all around comics (marvel, indy, web, etc)

Especially since there seem to be a lot of anti-anime members here lately, I think it might be beneficial Smile

Otherwise, where would be an appropriate place to put a topic of this style?

Now that I think about it, that's a fantastic idea, even though I'm new to this site, i haven't seen anything for normal comics, such a good idea.

Thanks, Denis!
And thanks, Harra! Smile Glad others think so.
I like manga too, but I started out with comics like Spiderman and X-men and whatnot and think that there are SO many now that it was so bizarre not to see a section.

Now all we have to do is get it pumpin'!

Any objections to adding western Cartoons to the section as well? That would help clean up the TV category....

I have no objection to this albeit there will remain some confusion pertaining to some of the originally western cartoons that have crossed into the anime field as in drawn in japan now, but I rekon that should be minor and not enough of a reason to disregard the idea.

Cartoons have been animated overseas LONG before the anime "phenomenon".

I think the origination depends on where it was created, not actually animated

Yes I know, but a growing number western cartoons are being remade in anime form and shipped back as anime and officially qualifiy as such in regards of sales and discriptions. I am refering to things like Teen Titans, originally americain but now fully known as an anime and there are some who are completely unaware that it started here. Ok Teen Titans is a bad example of that but...I'm too lazy to come up with a better one, cuz it is a minor thing.

Transformers is a tricky one since in some cases it *is* an anime.

Teen Titans is actually probably a good example since it is kinda perceived as an anime when it was meant to be viewed in America (and the comic it was based on was American, and in a very different style).
Although, I think its producers intended it to be that way.

Witchblade is another interesting example.
An American comic that was made INTO an anime over in Japan.

I think when you get into specifics like that, it just makes things too complicated.
In cases like Teen Titans or Avatar, I would say they're American.
In cases like Witchblade, the anime should be listed as an anime, where as if you're talking about the comic etc, American.

True, there are many series. The initial characters were born on US soil though.

Yes, I know this.

But we're not talking about a franchise's origin, we're talking about individual shows and comics and etc.
So when we get to Transformers, it depends on which show you want to talk about. I don't know WHAT we'd do if we got into franchises XD lol
