Randomized Favorites?

Just thought I'd ask. [size=7]I don't care how stupid I look.[/size]

Got the idea from dA, how about making it possible where you can make your Favorite Pictures displayed on your profile randomized? Like refreshing the page or linking to your profile makes the Favorites change each time?

I thought I'd ask this because I have seen other FAC users mentioning this. Besides, I think it would be a good implement because some users are probably getting tired of seeing the same old Favorited Pictures on their profie. And deleting old faves to make new ones show up on their profile isn't very desirable with most.

Any thoughts? Good idea or bad idea?

I think that randomized Favorites AND the randomization of your Favorite Artists would be a good idea, too. London has a point.

I second this notion. It would help artists' pieces get more recognition, and not only the popular art pieces would be shown; thus, lesser-known artists would get more attention.

If you feel that the fandom is worthless, then fighting the urge to pass judgement on a picture based on that fandom is a rather good idea.

That is, of course, unless you want the fangirls/fanboys coming after you with foaming mouths.

Agreed. It's so boring looking at the same one's over and over and none of your other fav's get shown because they just aren't as popular as the top 5 in your list.

Not sure what flags are used to show them in the orders they are.

Using random number generation, and another additional flag if needed, It may be done.
Details are still sketchy and I don't want to deal with this one. I've still got other things to work on besides life.

Order by random() could easily be too computationally expensive for users with hundreds and hundreds of faves.

No matter how you do it there will be some kind of error or bug for to many or too little faves.

Alternatively we could simply order by and updated timestamp.
Upon a pictures view the timestamp gets and update and thus moves it to the top of the list in faves.

Would still be a bit costly though, considering the constant change in views and such.

What about listing them by submission date.. like the featured ones on the front page (I think)?

order by random is too expensive, but the hack used on the random pictures page may work.
