Or, really, graphite and scanners. Any tricks to making blacked out graphite areas not show up as lumpy and shiny in a scan? Haaaaalp
And I guess anything else on the picture, although I'm mostly interested in the scanning issue |

Shade harder? Or reduce the amount of scanner sharpening.
