i was just wondering, is there and easier way to shade stuff in paint, than picking out the colors your self? |

Er. Not really. No matter what you do, you have to choose a color, although I sometimes find it easier to make my own swatches on the image and use the eyedropper so I don't have to keep opening up the color selection. |

To make a shadow or a highlight, you have to graduate the colors very gradually. |

Microsoft paint is a basic system, it doesn't contain dodge or burn tools or opacity changing. It wont allow you to shade any easier then just picking a darker color. |

I happen to do most of my art in MS Paint, and I think I might be able to help. Take a look at a couple of my pictures, and maybe you'll get an idea. This is my style, though, so you can't really expect for a picture of yours to look exactly the same...but still. Maybe this will help:
