I prefer somewhat shorter animes. In a series like DNAngel there are really only a few different sub-plots. Even with FullMetal Alchemist, its not all that long compared to other animes, but it really gives that whole feeling of knowing and understandiing the characters, with shows like DBZ the characters always seemed to change, one time Goku was all,"RAAAAAAAAGH" and the next time you see him his on the ground dead.
But one thing thats bugs me is how the mangas keep going while the anime adaptaions don't. If you asked my mom she'd probably tell you that she liked long continuing storylines.

But overall, I think that the shorter storylines are better where you don't know what's going to happen next.

I like fairly long story lines, but when they go on and on forever and you get to the point where you're wondering why it hasn'g ended yet, then, yeah that gets on my nerves. Like all those fillers in Naruto. Don't get me wrong, I love the show and all, but man, it sure knows how to go on for a while...

Depends on the plot overall, and if I like the anime enough. I mean, there's this anime Gunbuster and it only had six episodes and all revolved around one plot or another. That was constant. Then they decided to bring out Gunbuster 2 and I'm like: do I want to see this anime or not kinda thing.

It all depends on the context for me.. Most of the continuating anime based on manga I like to skip out on. I mean most shows? 50 some episodes is enough. Four, five seasons?

I, for one, LOVE avatar: the last airbender.

It has a continuing plot, but up until the third and current season the two seasons have been SLIGHTLY detatched from each other. More or less Simular to the transition from A New Hope and the Empire Strikes back. However, Book fire more or less just picks up where Earth left off. I've been liking this arrangement because, mainly of how much the characters have pulled this plot to the ending that fans saw in season two. Then, while the direction of the story, and the characters feed us these little tidbits of information during these last two relevant but mostly filler episodes..

I don't know.. the final act in the Headband.. That was eye candy. I have to say.

Teen Titans, as an episodic show, I enjoyed because of the pace each episode had. I think they summerized the LENGTHY super hero comic in a way that was enjoyable for me, and it still had that continuing story lines.

Dragon ball was good until the 5 hour five minutes.

Nuff said.

It would really depend on the genre and whole 'feel' of the series.

One series that comes to mind right away is Darker than BLACK, which is pretty much made of one to three episodes long arcs and in someway, more or less come in 'bigger plot' towards the end.

Anyhow, in general I look for series that are either: Totally out of whack, as in no bigger plot, everything is just whacky. Very good example would be Yotsuba& and Azumanga. Both have barely any plot, but both are also awesome.

If the above statement is not fulfilled, then the series must have: interesting characters, relationships, plot or interesting 'world'.
Also one that sometimes gets me hooked up on some series is that if I feel like I can relate or see similarities with my past self in the characters, I might end up watching the show.
