E, E10, Teen. Mature only on occasion.

Frankly, most games aimed at the Mature audience don't have themes I'm even interested in to begin with.

Something I've found really interesting is the disparity between the NA ratings system and the ones from other parts of the world, such as Europe and Japan.

For example, Europe and NA seem to have generally similar ratings, which isn't surprising (eg, the Phoenix Wright games have received a T in NA while they got a 12+ in Europe), but NA and Japan have vastly different ratings at times, particularly when it comes to RPGs. Like, KH2 received an E10+ here while it's just "All Ages" in Japan. Similarly, Tales of Symphonia got a T here while a "All Ages" rating in Japan.

It might be interesting to note that the ratings system in Japan seems to be heavily based on the amount of sexuality present in the game, while NA places greater emphasis on the amount of violence, whether cartoon or realistic, is involved. (Of course the ESRB watches for sexuality very greatly as well, but at the moment I'm just pointing out the major differences in what drives the decision-making.)

Also to note is that the ESRB is very specific in listing the objectionable content on the game cases while CERO (the Japanese ratings board) has far, far fewer things they find necessary to list, and has only recently started using that in addition to the ratings symbol. (ESRB has 30 descriptors that they use, as opposed to the 9 that CERO uses.)

I never look at the ratings, I just get the game I want.
But I mostly play M games.

Yes, differences in rating can be quite stark depending on what the game involves. (On a side note, the content descriptor icons used in Europe's PEGI system are cuuute...)

NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT RATINGS.

EDIT: Except over-protective mothers, power-hungry politicians, and gamestop

Most of my games not counting handhelds are rated M. Though, as others said before, you buy the game for the game, not because an adult rating makes you look super hardcore.

Gamestop carded my friend's 26 year old brother when he went to buy GTA4, and he doesn't even look young. Hurr.

WiiFit's simple soccer game is one of the most epic things ever.

I'm mostly into anything between 'Everyone' and 'Teen'. I'm not the least bit interested in most of the 'Mature' games, unless it's a fantasy RPG (like Oblivion) or a couple of Old West related games that are out there.

I don't really go for games that are 18+ Heh, I guess that would be M rated games. I'm from England, so sue me. I like 16+ games, though, but it depends on what the game is, rather than the ratings, I guess. Dead or Alive 4 is 16+ rated, btw.

I don't know what your rating system in the US is like, so I can't really decide. However, in Australia, I tend to enjoy MA15+ rated games, but there's very little on the Wii.

I'm really only interested in E10+ to Teen, however, I will occasionally play Mature rated Survival Horror games...Cause I love scary games. But I normally don't play Mature rated games...

And, nice point Fayore. They do seem to be a lot different in different countries.

E = everyone
T = teen = 13+
M = mature = 17+
AO = adults only = 18+

I think there's also an.. "EC" for early childhood or something.
