Just a discussion about The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
What were your favorite dungeons in the game, favorite bosses, characters, events, or most memorable experience? What are your dislikes of the game, i.e.: your least favorite character, dungeon, bosses, etc.? What were your favorite items?
Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game ever. I really love it. I understand that many people didn't like it as much as Ocarina of Time, but I thought it was an excellent game. I liked the concept of being timed, and I liked the many masks you can use in the game. Plus, the image quality is better than Ocarina of Time.
What are your thoughts? |

I remember really liking the ability to swim around with the Zora mask. Not having to constantly access a subscreen to equip/unequip Iron Boots like in Ocarina... _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Anyone who thinks there is a better Zelda game than Majora's Mask is a faggot. So much lore is left open to interpretation. The only game that that the normal Zelda team didn't work on turns out to be GODLY. Coincidence?
-- Termina was accidentally created with the creation of Hyrule (And whatever world Hyrule occupies). The Goddesses had no intention, nor control over its creation.
-- Termina actually exists in an entirely separate DIMENSION to all of Hyrule. When Link passed through, what he actually went through was the same or a similar crack in reality to how Termina actually came to exist in the first place.
-- Because of the lack of a focus by the Goddesses, Termina evolved with an overall air of being spurned and rejected, which forced the world and its inhabitants to all become slightly tainted and twisted in some way.
-- Termina and Hyrule are similar and also ever so slightly different. They share similar landscapes, people and, in theme at least, lore.
-- However, Terminan lore depicts Majora as the 'big bad evil God' type, where Hyrule places Ganon. Following Hyrule's 'rule of balance' (There's always a Link to counter whenever Ganon surfaces again, eternal struggle, etc), Fierce Deity took over as Termina's 'good'. He was, however, also tainted by the universe's passive bitterness, creating the 'evil' persona that's described in the game.
-- Regarding the moon theory, this can be explained in that the parallels reflect both ways. Changes in Termina also affect Hyrule. So, when the moon came into creation through Majora's power, its existence was reflected in the seemingly natural formation of Hyrule's Death Mountain. This explains why before Majora's Mask, Death Mountain had no semblance to anything... moon-like.
I know of a very convincing theory about Tingle. I don't think I saved the original text but what i basically said:
Termina is Hyrule in an alternate dimension, hence why it has the same people slightly different. The only person NOT in this other world is Link himself, he travels between the two yet there is no parallel version of him. This is where Tingle comes in.
Tingle is Link but brought up in Termina.
Think about it, Tingle is Link but was not orphaned as a child, he grew up in Kokiri forest after his parents left him there for safety (then not dying unlike originally), and as Link since he wasn't a Kokiri he never received a Fairy.
However unlike Link, Tingle never received a fairy ever which is why he was constantly searching for one still, also explaining his clothing which is practically identical to Links. Tingle grew up still and since he thought he was Kokiri he always searched for a Fairy afterwards.
Then, the real kicker, Link has some weird reincarnation type thing where he always has a new version of himself (in a sense anyway) that will defeat evil and save the land. This also explains why Tingle has a regeneration effect and has appeared in multiple Zeldas in multiple times. He also comes back to life but as this failure at life. So while Link is always destined to become "The Hero of Time" Tingle is always destined to become "The Failure of Time". It explains everything about Tingle and his life, his actions and why he behaves like that, and why he reincarnates like Link.
Tingle is Link but in another dimension.

FINALLY, someone agrees with me about MM.
My favorite boss in the game was Ghot (sp?), that mechanical bull-thing that chases you around in that snow mountain dungeon level. Easiest one to defeat.
My most memorable experience was when I finally got my hands on the Fierce Deity Mask. Awesome.
My most difficult and adrenaline-filled moment was surprising the side-quest which involved Romani's Ranch. The one where you meet Romani on the night of the First Day and you have to shoot down hordes and hordes of those alien-balloon things. That really pumped my adrenaline.
It was frustrating if you failed to eliminate all the ghost-balloon-aliens, but it was also funny to see Romani get abducted. |

The miniboss of MM's water temple was, for me, pretty tough. Strategy was obvious, it was merely that halfway through the fight he releases all of the little globules and then starts crashing about the place.
If I recall correctly, I had a tough time with Goht the first time because I didn't use the Goron Mask to chase him down -- I shot him to death with arrows. Yup, it took forever to do that.
I also remember running out of magic powder against the twin centipedes of the eastern temple, so without the Giant's Mask to help out I had to run around and attempt to strike at them with whatever longest-reaching weapon I had (the Fairy's Sword). That ALSO took nearly forever.
I played and played and played and did just about all the sidequests, it wasn't until a long time later that I actually decided to actually complete the game, fight the challenges of the last area and the final boss himself.
Memorable moments:
1 - Couldn't find the Great Fairy on my first playthrough. So I ended up running around town helplessly as the timer counted down to world's end. Had a nice front-row seat for the moon crashing down, then vowed to never let that happen again. (And it didn't.)
2 - Failing to save Romani and her cows from the invading aliens. (What is it with aliens and cows, anyway?) The reason why Romani barley talked and suffered from headaches on days 2/3, suddenly it all made sense. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

- The Legend of Zelda (NES)
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
- The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
- And a demo of Windwaker.
But the people who have bought that collector's edition have complained that while playing Majora's Mask on the game, that it freezes easily, saved data can be crashed, the music is distorted, and it has a slow frame-rate. It's all because the games weren't ported; they were emulated. Some people claimed that by disabling the rumble feature while playing the game helps prevent these problems.
But if you're a hardcore LoZ fan, then by all means, buy that collector's edition.
I personally have bought the other collector's edition for my GameCube: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Master Quest. It only has Ocarina of Time and a much more difficult version of Ocarina of Time called Master Quest. Okay, Nintendo has Majora's Mask on WiiWare or will have it soon. And I agree, it has the best plotline.
SO WHY DON'T THEY REMAKE IT FOR THE WII, WITH BETTER GRAPHICS?
Sometimes, you just gotta wonder how stupid they are. People would rather buy a disc that uses better graphics and the same plotline than to download the old version. _________________ |

Like I said earlier, sure, I would love to have this for my GameCube, but why risk it when it's just an emulation with skipped frame rates and distorted sound?
I'm downloading this with Project64 for my computer instead.
I also have OoT for my GameCube, and it works fine. But the thing is they changed some stuff on the game. Blocks with the crescent symbol have new symbols on them, and more noticeably, the Fire Temple's music has been altered. |

Not profitable. It was not a popular enough game to warrent a remake 2 gens later. There might be a chance of an OOT remake if nintendo ever develops a next-gen console, though. _________________ |

You can also usually get that collector's edition Zelda at your local/internet GameStop, they usually have a new one for $50 when I go in mine, or a used for around $35.
I has no money, so all I get to do is wish I still had mine, and imagine killing my cousin who stole it. Bastard. _________________ When all things end darkly,
