Which is the best metal genre? To my beliefs all metal is great, it just depends where and how you use your material

NOLA Metal (Down, Soilent Green, EYEHATEGOD, Corossion of Conformity) and Metalcore (All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Atreyu) need to be up there, while Speed and Thrash are the same thing.

I'd probably say the genre with the overall most amount of good shit would be Melodic Death. At the Gates, old In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Black Dahlia Murder, Devildriver, Kalmah, Scar Symmetry, Soilwork, list just goes on, while other areas have a much higher rate of crap, and corporate bands (SUP SUICIDE SILENCE, HOW'S BEING A SCENE BAND GOING FOR YOU?)

Eh, oops missed some Lol. Just vote other for them then.
As for Speed and Thrash I'm pretty sure there's a difference.
Motley Crue fit into Glam, Heavy, and Speed. And Iron Maiden into Heavy/Speed. Speed was a little slower than Thrash or something. Eh the data's somewhere. I'll grab it later.

Speed and thrash are the same genre. People thought they were different when fucking Krik Hammet called Metallica "Speed Metal", but there is no difference.

Viking Metal is a lyrical theme. Not a style of Metal.

Example: Amon Amarth are a melodic Death Metal band, who's lyrics are about Vikings.
