On January 19, 1809 Edgar Poe was born,
His father abandoned him, his mother died, now
their family was torn.
The Allans home is where he would go.
He changed his name to Edgar Allen Poe.

Poe went to England to go to school for many years.
He went back to America to finish his learning career.
His life was like a huge moutian with mounds,
Lots of writing ups and lots of personal downs.

In 1827 he published Tamber Lane and other poems.
He used the assumed name of Henri Le Rennet, so no one
would know hims.
This book of poems is a dimon in the ruff,
If you could find mor than one original copy, that would
really be tuff.

In 1836, he married Virginia Clemm, just 13 years old.
How could a 27 years old man be so bold?
Young miss marries wrinkled writer in sin.
a wacky wedding of kissing cousins life begins.

A tortured soul who needs some saving,
This was his most famous poem called "The Raven"
It's about a man who has lost his love, and is visited by
a talking bird.
"Nevermore" was its only known word.

In 1847 Virgina past away,
The beat of her heart never to thump another day.
After her death his alcohol problems grew.
Glass bottles were the only friends he knew.

A tortured soul who needs some saving,
This was his most famous poem called "The Raven"
It's about a man who has lost his love, and is visited
by a talking bird.
"Nevermore" was its only known word.

In 1849 Edgar Allen Poe died in Baltimore.
"Lord help my poor soul," was heard at the hospital door.
His life was a shooting star;
Bright sometimes, but dark way to far.
