I made this pic not long ago and since I have posted it, I haven't received much opinions besides "she's cute" and blahblahblah. I would really like an honest critique on this one since it was a new style I did. I personally love it but I want to know what worked, and what might not have. BTW, this is the reposted version since I had fixed it up since. The original version is in my gallery which is the one with the posts.

Hey, stranger. Been ages since you were on these here forums. About the crit... pose is fine, but I suggest you look at dark and light, in terms of shading, 'cause it looks a little on the plain side, if you ask me. More lighter tones are needed, as well as darker tones to balance it out. And look at creases, too- there should be more of those in the coat itself. Oh, and try to give more details on the eyes- they look soulless to me. Sorry.

PS: she does look cute, though- it's the pose and her expression that does it. Keep up the good art and Happy Christmas.

Thanks for the advice. I've always had trouble with clothing XD I guess about the eyes, I probably added too much glare to them.

And ya, I haven't been on much because I don't have the internet at home anymore so it's been hard for me to get on. I have to use the local library and it's been nothing but a hassle . . . .. But I will try to work more on details and working with lighter tones verses just darker shades.

I tried to follow some of the advice when I made this new pic

Could someone please give me a critique on this one so I know if it's better.
Thanks

Go look at some pictures of naked men. Torso should be wider. It doesn't look like there's enough room in there for his organs and stuff. Pectoral muscles go all the way up to the collar bones and they're usually slightly taller than they are wide, so the line you have indicating where they end is way too low. Nipples usually a little farther apart. Arms should be a bit thicker, especially his left. People have fingernails. Legs could be thicker. Someone as thin as he is should probably have visible ribs.

As for shading, it seems weird to me that the divide between the shadow and the base color is pretty obvious on his skin/pants, but it's very blurry on his shoes and hair. I'd say it's better to keep a uniform coloring style for a single picture, and the more sharply delineated style looks better.

On top of what London said, his right arm is a tad too long.

Also, his character reeks of the shy, clingy, damsel-in-distress uke type that doesn't know how to help himself in any way, even without reading his info. All he needs is blond hair and he's the protagonist of every yaoi manga, ever.

About your artwork of Sasha, Jedi said most of what you need.

Because there is a background, some of the colours there should reflect onto her, if that makes any sense. eg if there was a blue background there may be hints of blue in the hair or clothing.

Although it is somewhat confusing by having a shadow around the whole figure and. It suggests she's 2D and floating on a flat background. But also having the shadow at the bottom (started from the feet towards the end of the page) makes me think she is 3D. So it's a bit contradictory.

Overall its a great picture. I like the reflection technique anyway. It's really cool. ^^

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the advice. I'm still new at drawing males so they do tend to look feminine XD I do have a picture of him that I'm working on at home but I won't be able to post it on this site but I think it's much better in terms of the body so far. The shading is still a new thing to me too. I've been trying out different techniques and trying to see what works. I know I still have a long way to go though . . . ..

And about Sasha, it was my first time working with most of the techniques I used on her. At first I just wanted the bg to just be colourful and not really have her be a part of the bg so that's why there aren't any of the colours on her. But I should have thoughts about the lighting after I had made her more connected to the bg.
