User gallery sections/folders feature

Stratadrake

One of the features in development for 3.2 is the creation of user-defined categories that apply exclusively to one's own gallery. This will allows users to separate their gallery into sections that are easier to browse.

But what do we CALL the feature? Such a simple question, but to avoid confusion down the road it would be nice if we could have a consensus now.

I like sections. Sections is also leading in the poll, with 100% of the total vote. There is one vote. YEAH.

Sounds a lot like DA to me, but I voted for sections. Now it's got a resounding 2 votes, from this post.

I just like folders. I thought long and hard about a good reason for it, but couldn't think of one.

So, Strata, if this feature was made, would it use the same (Javascript? or CSS?) coding that dA uses to drag-and-drop pictures into folders, or would we have to go to [Edit], and then select the gallery section to put it into?

How would this be set up in our overall gallery? Would it be side bars? Would there be a maximum limit on how many sections one could create? Or could we set gallery sections to private? How would all this work?

Technically speaking it's AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML). And FAC developers have almost zero coding experience in that matter.

So what you're saying is that we'll just have to go to Edit to select gallery sections to put our pictures in? That's fine by me. I would rather have that then no gallery sections at all.

It would be nice if you had something like photobucket? Checkbox next to pictures, then you could have a "move" button that would move all the checked pictures to whatever section.

Will the gallery sections be like....simple links or like folders with thumbnails? If number two, then would we be able to choose what thumbnail we put on our folders?

But for 3.2, it would be under edit. The option is already there "Gallery section to submit into" but there has never been a way to add sections (no display them in the gallery pages) 'till now.

As for the topic, I've always liked sections (as you can see from the part of it that is already in there).
