Hello. I'm fourteen years old, and I'm trying to develop my artwork. I really want to get better. Could somebody please give me a serious critique? I'd perfer it if you didn't flame me, but I would like to be told where and how I can improve.

Here are some of the better examples of my artwork.

Finally, here's an improvement chart to show how I've been doing so far. I'd like to update this chart sometime.

Thank you. <3

Let's take this picture:

It looks like you took a white/black brush and simply added it to the parts you think should be brighter. Unfortunately, it doesn't look really good. Instead of adding white/black to make a part brighter/darker, decide on a color that's away from black/white.

For example:

She has a pink hat, but the dark parts of the pink hat doesn't look like black was added to it. Likewise, she has brown hair, but the bright parts don't look like white was added.

If you're having trouble deciding which colors to use, then take a look at a picture you like using those colors and borrow those colors.

Ohh, so I should do something that's like cel shading? Okay then! Thank you! =D

Edit: How's this? http://cati-joy.deviantart.com/art/Chibi-Sailor-Luna-106064797

The yellow parts still look a off, but the skin looks good.

About light sources:

Your light seems to coming from the upper left

So an object would usually have shadows to the lower right. Some parts are a bit off.

When shading, always keep in mind where the light is, so...

I think you need to work on anatomy a bit. I know it's boring, but if you draw real life people then it will help your art greatly Smile You also do need to study shadows. Take a ball or something, and put it under a lamp. Notice how the shadows on it move when you move the ball. Shading seems pretty hard to understand, but once you do it's really fun Smile
