Your picture #756798 ("Espeon and Umbreon Chibis") was rejected by SH-51132.24641 The given reason(s) are: Your image file is too large; please resize it to a browser-friendly resolution (such as smaller than 1500 pixels) before submission. Please update your submission to address this issue, then try again: http://www.Fanart-Central.net/add_picture.php?pid=756798&action=retry
The picture I submitted was 1250 pix/in. I don't see what is wrong with it. I'm pretty sure it has less resolution than some other pictures that come up. Can someone explain this?

I had submitted this picture before under a different file that was 1500pix/in and it got rejected. I understood it then. But now I changed the resolution and the submission filter is telling me the same thing.

I changed the resolution in Photoshop CS3. I used the Image Size window to change the image's resolution. Can anyone think of anything that I may have missed? And I did hit okay, I saved it under a seperate file name so I also have the original. I submitted the edited picture.

Pixels and inches are two completely different things. Wink Double check to make sure it's in pixels, not inches.

I rejected it because it's pixel size was 4856x7126, and that's incredibly large by site standards.

1250 pixels per inch is excessively high resolution for online display.

Most computer monitors have a display resolution in the range of 80 pixels per inch, 1250 dpi ("dots per inch", effectively the same meaning) means that if you view the image at 100% zoom it will appear over ten times its actual size.

For a general rule of thumb, never EVER use your scanner's maximum resolution for everyday scanning, you just don't need it.

Set a scan resolution in the range of 100~150 dpi, you'll find that your scanner will be able to capture them much faster and they are still very good quality.

See also the guidelines on image size & resolution that I posted in our Reference section.

And PS: blackcatcurse, you actually aren't even close to the all-time site record for largest image submission ever.

Scanning at high resolution can be useful if you are going to edit it in photoshop or something. You just need to remember to save it in 80-150 dpi when you are done and ready to post it online.

I know. I scan my stuff at 150dpi (partly because it's my scanner's default) but create a resized (75dpi) version for uploading.

If I could ask, do you need any help with resizing? There's a great tutorial.
