I've never been to one, either. But I have been to a Star Trek Convention. Well, it was mostly Star Trek, but other sci-fi shows were there, too. That was fun! As for finding out about them? www.google.com will have the answers you seek. I still think about going to an anime convention myself, but I live in England and where I live, I have to travel... and we have no car...

I'M going to akon in dallas tx. this year! it'll be the third time goin there!
I LOVE A-KON!!! there's the dealers room, the art gallery, cosplay contests, and even whole theaters that just play anime nearly non-stop that you can just come in and watch whenever you want! and since there are lots of people who couldn't buy a room, if you wake up around 8:00 in the mourning and walk around, its like some kind anime HOBO convention! its so fun to see all the cosplayers sprawled out sleeping on random places on the floor!hahaha!
oh and they have japanese musical artists come and perform every year too!

i've never been to any other con .but A-kon ,atleast, is like three magical funky fresh days of sweetness!
in fact..................i'd be willing to say....................................that.........its................OVER 9000!!!!!

I've only been to one so far, Momocon, but it was small since it's run by a college anime club (on the plus side, you don't have to buy tickets!!)

This September I'm going to AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) though, which is the major con for the state Very Happy
