Eragon is pretty cool, but it was kinda sad. Not like 'pathetic' sad but, sad. Brom died *sob* Crying or Very sad He's my favorite character next to Eragon and Saphira. I know it happens in the book, don't get me wrong. Its just sad. Curse those Ra'Zac or Durza.....
Evil or Very Mad
Muh dick.

None stop action doesn't mean its a good movie, it just means that the writers suck at developing their characters and giving the whole plot some depth. LOTR and Star Wars > All other movies.
Y'know, when you really think about it, Eragon is alot like Star Wars with a Lord of the Rings style

You've got the naieve kid (Eragon/Luke) who has no clue who his dad was. Then you've got the old man (Brom/Ben) who teaches the kid and ends up gettin' killed.

You've got the damsel in distress (Leia/Arya) who can also kick mean butt. And you've got the arrogent survival expert (Han/Murtagh) who helps to rescue her.

On the bad side:

You've got the supreme overlord (Galbatorix/Palpatine) and his big secret weapon (Durza/Death Star)

The naieve kid kills the super secret weapon and then is confronted by the supreme overlord and his past is revealed to him (in Eragon's case, it was Murtagh)

Weird, huh? Confused

Hero, damsel in distress, patriarch, and overlord antagonist characters are hardly exclusive to Star Wars offshoots.

Maybe so, but that's perhaps the third thing I've heard compared to Star Wars in the past two days because it has a "young hero" a "damsel in distress" a "fatherly character" who trains the hero, and a "evil overlord."

Yeah. A LOT of stories have those things. Star Wars wasn't the first to do it, and they certainly weren't going to be the last.

Zelda games have Link, Zelda, some obligatory old swordmaster who wants to teach you the way of the warrior and Ganondorf with his triforce of Power. That doesn't make Legend of Zelda Star Wars.

Pokemon has Ash, Misty, Proffessor Oak, and Giovanni with his genetically altered superpokemon. That does not make Pokemon Star Wars.

Escaflowne has Van, Hitomi, that old guy with the scar and the tights who trains Van, and Dornkirk with his destiny-altering machine. That does not make Escaflowne Star Wars.

Every Final Fantasy game ever is pretty much guaranteed to have a young hero of humble origins, a damsel, a father figurre, and a bad guy with and ulitame weapon of some sort. This does not make every Final Fantasy game Star Wars.

And I have heard these things compared to Star Wars before. I'm just starting to get getting sick of it. :\

I think the difference here is the extreme connection to other fantasy stories, right down to the names of the characters. Coming from a young kid who is still at that imitation age, the story ends up being a rehashed version of several different stories the kid has obviously read and probably loves. Comparing Zelda and Star Wars for their core concepts is just a different way of saying that all current movies are "boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy wins girl back". Same concept, different movies. But to say a movie is just a new Schindler's List would be a very different comparison.

Is it an exact copy of LotR or Star Wars? Of course not, but under these circumstances it's a fair comparison. Kids of that age always make up their own stories that are basically just slightly altered stories they like. Before they go on to later make more sophisticated adaptations with more quality ideas. This kid's parents just jumped ahead and published the first step.

And it sucks ass.

The movie had effects, but the book was the only reason i went to watch it. I didn't feel for any of the characters and all in all, I felt like it was a wasted movie. Could've been much better if it had strode out on it's own, without trying to steal the large-scale battle scences from LOTR.

The fact it was pretty much self-published proves a certain point.

Huh I've been waiting for the idiot who supports this movie

OK your talking to a guy who actually READ the book and the MOVIE sucked

Everything was just BAHHHHHH I mean come on watch The first 5 minutes of lord of the rings and there you have Eragon.

Personally the screenwriting was HORRIBLE for the movie everything was either taken from starwars, lord of the rings to a comedy (All of those cheap ass hah hah lines were not in the book) THEY SUCKED

Half of the stuff that happened in a movie did not happen in the book it's what lazy ass screenwriters looked at this book and said "Oh epic better it's gonna make a killing." ever since Peter Jackson did it

INTO THE SKY TO RIDE OR DIE or whatever the hell it was, was not in the book.

Where in the hell did the actors come from a local nativity play.

The verdict is SUCKED (If you read the book)
I saw Eragon yesterday and I'm tellin ya it was awsome! I personaly like...no..really like the LOTR series but man. Eragon just came out of thin air and punked LOTR and Starwars out. Was obsoluty stunned! Nonstop action!

(Be Nice people. Had a rough day today)
did you read the book? cuz obviously if you read it, you probably wouldnt like it. i mean, they changed it entirely from the book! like when i heard that it was becoming a movie, i thought it would be atleast pg13, but they made it into a S**tty pg rated movie. i have to admit that murtagh was pretty cool, but everything else sucked.

I think everyone can pretty much say, the movie wasn't worth your time. The books aren't that fantaststic either.

I saw it mid-December because my friend really wanted to see it. It's on my top 5 list of the worst movies ever. Every bad fantasy cliche gone horribly horribly wrong. I heard that some 14 year old kid wrote the book and it only got published because his parents were both in the business.

Plus, it made John Malkovich look bad. And he's such a good actor otherwise. Sad
