I was talking with Blackzero ages ago about why he disliked this place. He said one of the reasons was because he couldnt put his art up here because it was on lined paper. True lined paper is frowned upon. I told him why not just have someone edit out the lines for you? Or if they couldnt, trace the art onto a unlined sheet of paper. He said that wasent allowed.

I dont see why this isent allowed. And this is why:

If it is YOUR ARTWORK that YOU drew. You should have every right to trace it onto an unlined peice of paper! I had to do this myself on 2 occasions. I drew an awsome sketch of Bakura standing behind Sarah hugging her shoulders in school. Sadly it was on lined paper so I just traced it onto a unlined peice of paper. Another time I did this was when I drew out a reference sheet for Xaliirekur's dragoon hybrid form. My brother sat on the paper and smeared it badly to where I couldnt erase the smeared parts, and he wrinkled it badly. So I had to trace it onto another peice of paper. It may not be as good as the original but at least you can see it.

So is this allowed or not? Make some noise people.

You can submit stuff drawn on lined paper to your scraps gallery. You aren't supposed to submit it to your regular gallery, but enforcement is spotty. It's a dumb rule.

Also, there's no rule against tracing your own artwork.

With the introduction of a Scraps system that means we can relax some of the guidelines enforced in the past about what can or cannot be submitted here. The rule on lined paper dates back to 2004-ish when FAC was still rather young. FAC 1.0 actually did have a Scraps-like distinction but the definition of that term (which was basically "stuff that can be deleted at any time to save server space") ensured that it was rarely used.

As for tracing, there is no harm done in tracing or re-drawing your own sketches. If it's your work then it's your right to do that. If the work belongs to someone else then you need permission from them. And since you generally won't get permission for things with a commercially registered copyright on them (i.e: anime screenshots or manga scans) we have to disallow that form of tracing entirely.

Then there's the broader subject of plaigarism in general....

Nah it was his own work he said so. Which is why he has no reason to be angry with FAC now that it has a more powerful scraps system n_n

People get mad at this place for such silly reasons lol trust me yahoo is ten times worse, least FAC doesnt eat your friend names and posts when they feel like it or boot you out of boredom.

Huzzah! Now i can post up that hand I drew ages ago! >D -gets practice pictures booklet-
